WP:BK Notability

There are currently two discussions on-going about possible changes to the book notability guidelines that may be of interest to project members. The first, Wikipedia talk:Notability (books)#Sales figures are not listed as a case for notability, is a discussion on whether sales figures should be considered as a sign of notability. The second, at Wikipedia talk:Notability (books)#Translations = Notability questions whether the number of times a book is translated should be considered a new criteria of notability. Your input would be valuable here. Thanks. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 05:21, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Milestone Announcements

Announcements
  • All WikiProjects are invited to have their "milestone-reached" announcements automatically placed onto Wikipedia's announcements page.
  • Milestones could include the number of FAs, GAs or articles covered by the project.
  • No work need be done by the project themselves; they just need to provide some details when they sign up. A bot will do all of the hard work.

I thought this WikiProject might be interested. Ping me with any specific queries or leave them on the page linked to above. Thanks! - Jarry1250 (t, c) 22:17, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:25, 28 February 2009 (UTC) [reply]

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:36, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

Urantia Book on Tycho's Nova

There is a discussion at Talk:SN_1572#Tycho's Nova Decision - May 15, 2009 on how best to incorporate subject matter from The Urantia Book pertaining to Tycho's Nova into wikipedia. I am also posting this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Astronomy#Urantia Book on Tycho's Nova. 84user (talk) 00:40, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have editors in the area of Wikipedia had the inclination or opportunity to review the material above?

GA Reassessment of Merseburg Incantations

I have done a GA Reassessment of Merseburg Incantations as part of the GA Sweeps project. I have found the article to be fine except for the lack of references in a couple of sections. I have put [citation needed] templates where I feel at least one in-line citation would be needed. My review is here. I have put the article on hold for a week pending work on the references. I am notifying the interested projects of this. Please contact me on my talk page if you have any questions. H1nkles (talk) 15:29, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have conducted a review of this article as part of the GA sweeps process. There are some issues which need addressing, which can be found at Talk:No Man Knows My History: The Life of Joseph Smith/GA1. The article is on hold for seven days, so that these concerns may be addressed. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:58, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

I have proposed merging Unification Church and antisemitism into Divine Principle. The second article is part of this project. Steve Dufour (talk) 16:35, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Papyrus NT images

In articles such as Papyrus 5, I notice that there are only external links to images of the document. Surely in the US these fall into the public domain and therefore should be included in the article itself? Tempshill (talk) 02:34, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

who is allowed to to add {{WPRT2}} to articles?

I've created a few articles about religious texts as Ladder of Jacob, Questions of Ezra, Greek Apocalypse of Daniel, Prayer of Joseph, Strasbourg papyrus. I'm allowed to add {{WPRT2}} in their discussion page, even if I'm not part of this WikiProject ?A ntv (talk) 20:03, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Foundational book for the Nation of Islam, but just an unreferenced stub at the moment. "Moses recognized the fact that he could not say just anything to them [the "white race"]. He had a hard time trying to civilize them. Once they gave Moses so much trouble that he took a few sticks of dynamite, went up on the mountainside, placed them into the group, and went back to get those who were giving him the most trouble. He said to them: Stand there on the edge of this mountain and you will hear the voice of God. They stood there about 300 in number. Moses set the fuse off and it killed all of them. The Imams got after Moses for performing this trick on the devils. Moses said to the Imams: If you only knew how much trouble these devils give me, you would do as I do" (p.120) is a rather interesting passage from it. Hypostasis of the Archons

In June, User:Kagura8 made some changes to Hypostasis of the Archons which do not appear to be supported by the references used.[1] Could someone look at this? I'm very close to reverting their changes. Viriditas (talk) 11:09, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP 1.0 bot announcement

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:50, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request for comment on Biographies of living people

Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:

Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, nearly all wikiproject topics will be effected.

The two opposing positions which have the most support is:

  1. supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
  2. opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect

Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.

Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced BLP articles if they are not sourced, so your project may want to source these articles as soon as possible. See the next, message, which may help.

Adding Links

Hello, I am new to Wikipedia and am trying to understand how Wikipedia works, without disrupting anything or stepping on any one’s toes. My revisions on several pages have been removed and I am confused by these edits because I was not trying to self promote with my additions. Rather, I was adding a link to the Jewish Publication Society (JPS), the oldest Jewish publishing company in the United States and the authoritative English translation of the Jewish Bible. JPS has created a product called the Tagged Tanakh, which contains an online version of its most recent Bible translation.

You removed my links to the Tagged Tanakh, but Mechon Mamre, Bible Gateway, and the University of Michigan all have links in similar formats on Wikiperida pages related to the Bible. Please explain to me why these organizations are allowed to post and I am not. Additionally, I find it a little bothersome that Christian versions of the Bible (ie Bible Gateway and University of Michigan) are adding links to Jewish Wikipedia pages such as Torah and the Book of Genesis. Please advise me on the next step that I should take. Thank you, and I Look forward to hearing from you soon. Rrstern25 (talk) 14:00, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
