We Are Young Money is the first collaboration studio album from Young Money Entertainment. It was released on December 21, 2009.[9] Featured guests are recently-signed Young Money artist Short Dawg, Lloyd, Gucci Mane and Birdman. Lil Wayne performs in all but one song on the album, "Girl I Got You".
Release and promotion
Singles
- "Every Girl" is the lead single from the album. It features Lil Wayne, Drake, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, and Mack Maine. The song has peaked at ten on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
- "BedRock" was chosen as the second single from the album. It features Lil Wayne, Drake, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Tyga and Loyd. It has peaked at two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the most commercially successful single.
- "Roger That" was chosen as the third single. It features Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Tyga. It was officially released to urban radio on March 23, 2010.[10]
Other Songs
- "Steady Mobbin'" peaked at #48 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has been stated on MTV News that Gucci Mane & Lil Wayne shot their scenes for the video separately. Wayne shot his parts 2 hours before turning himself in to his one-year jail sentence, while Gucci shot his after his sentence was completed. The video premiered on Sunday July 4, 2010 on MTV Jams.[11]
Chart performance
The album debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200, selling 142,000 copies in its first week. The album was met with mixed reviews from critics and did well on the Billboard chart. The next week, the album dropped down three spots to #12, selling 42,000 copies. [12] On May 24th, 2010, the album was certified gold by the RIAA with over 500,000 copies sold[13].
