Replaceable fair use File:Mchale_1971_tom_novelist.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Mchale_1971_tom_novelist.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 03:39, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Mchale 1980s tom novelist.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Mchale 1980s tom novelist.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

I've put that article for proposed deletion. This is really far too detailed statistics to fall within the realm of almanacs (under which we have a lot of sports and political stats), and is ultimately simply not notable beyond a statement withi another another article describing the breadth of variety in manufactured products. Circéus (talk) 07:04, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm not sure it's the best terminology either, as I'm no expert in the subject, but an edit was needed. The issue is that, theoretically at least, a steam-powered car could be fuelled by gasoline -- there were certainly types that used kerosene, so it's not that strange an idea. Hence my edits, to be certain that you make the distinction between the car types that you are wanting to make clear. -- Cheers. EdJogg (talk) 14:04, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ed, I see what you are saying and have seen references to kerosene use in autos... Also, now I am seeing how this goes, I wasn't quite sure how to leave anyone a message and your talk page describes it quite well. Regards Nconwaymicelli (talk) 07:14, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to be of help. :o)
Incidentally, talk page threads are conventionally indented (as I have done here) so that it is easier to see who contributed what and in what order.
I see you're a relatively new editor to WP. Although I can't promise to respond immediately, I'm quite happy to (try to) answer the odd question about WP editing now and then, if you can't find the information through the help system. Cheers. -- EdJogg (talk) 16:55, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right on cue, someone has just added File:Stanley steamer burner.jpg, which is a gasoline burner assembly for a Stanley Steamer!

Cool! I'm in shock my home town has so many automobile manufacturers, and no pages done for them!

Edit summaries

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Hello, Nconwaymicelli. I stumbled upon these two articles recently written by you. I noticed that quite a few sentences closely resemble those of your cited references. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia, but please be encouraged to re-organize those paragraphs and re-structure the sentences to avoid close paraphrasing. Thanks. Happy editing. help on one

I'd appreciate if you could possibly help develop Murray Bernthal‎ article, which i started as a stub. I'd rather this would be done well. Not sure if the topic is directly your interest area, but the article could have a lot of links to other Syracuse topics, too. --doncram (talk) 23:33, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well certainly, I can do that. I never heard of him before. He sounds like quite a guy.. Let's see what I can find and thanks for the vote of confidence! Nconwaymicelli (talk) 19:03, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Frederick W. Smith (physician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Dusti*poke* 03:15, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations for your DYK! Fascinating article; your recent articles have added greatly to my understanding of the history of Syracuse.

I have added a link to your article in Innovation and Business in Upstate New York.

May I suggest new projects that could use your abilities? A number of New York State inventors still lack Wikipedia articles of their own; chief among them is L. C. Smith. There is also David Maydole of Norwich, who perfected the hammer. In the North Country, William Henry Miner of Chazy and Frederick W. Eames of Watertown made important contributions to the development of railroad equipment. Carl Frink of Clayton made many innovations of the snowplow. And in Western New York, John D. Larkin of the Larkin Soap Company was an innovator in mail-order marketing and a patron of architecture, commissioning Frank Lloyd Wright to design his company's building and then his own house.

Cheers, Don Don Argus jr (talk) 09:13, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Don for the kind words! I've been feeling like a hermit out here, not many Syracusans around? Yes, I will keep plugging along and when I run out of Syracuse, New York State will certainly be be next on my list, you can count on that.. Actually, both L. C. Smith and his brother, Hurlburt are both on my list to do (and soon). Nconwaymicelli (talk) 18:29, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of Railroad industry in Syracuse, New York

Hello! Your submission of Railroad industry in Syracuse, New York at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! The Bushranger One ping only 03:10, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Avis Stearns Van Wagenen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Known only due to her connection to E.C. Stearns & Company (and specifically to her brother and father). Only usable references are mere genealogy trees, nothing talks about her in detail. Notability is not inherited.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. You deserve it

Hi

After reading your account on the Wiki guides page:

The Invisible Barnstar

You deserve some recognition for your work and I really think that no-one on here should feel that left out.

Help?

Hello my name is Leilani and I'm a student at Syracuse U. For our class final we have to take an article on Wikipedia and make it better, essentially, but it has to tie into our class subject which is transnational NGOs. Basically for class we can work on policies and organizations' pages. I was hoping, because I see you have made a ton of contributions to the Onondaga Lake page, that I could greatly expand a section (or even creat a page in and of itself) of the pollution issues, history of pollution, steps to improve pollution and organizations and politicians working to do this, policies enacted, etc. I think this section dedicated solely to the ins and outs of pollution to Onondaga Lake has the potential to be an article all on its own. Lsmroczk32 (talk) 21:04, 30 March 2011 (UTC)Lsmroczk32[reply]

Hi Leilani, that sounds wonderful. I added all the history and was hoping someone would add some new data. I grew up in Syracuse but don't live there any longer so don't know much about new events. If you need any help with editing questions, just ask! Nconwaymicelli (talk) 19:03, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moyer Automobiles

Dear Nconwaymicelli,

I'm not very adept at using this forum or at being a contributor. Need lots of extra time to figure it all out.

I finally got back on and saw your comments from last November/December, 2010. I am restoring a 1913 Moyer Model D Touring Car which I found at a farm auction in 1992. Have done much research since then and have some artifacts, history of extant Moyer Autos, etc. I am very good friends with Moyer descendants in NY who is also restoring a Moyer Touring Car. I am formerly from the Syracuse area and also now live in AZ. Would love to contact you by e-mail and discuss Moyer history! Please contact me at: sasgjs@gmail.com

Thanks,
