Goose Lake Valley

Could someone tell me how and when it came to be known as Goose LakeItalic text Valley? Has this now become an official designation? Who designated it?

I grew up in Lakeview and had never heard it called Goose Lake Valley until I saw the Wikipedia article. It was always Goose Valley.
