Javier Hernández

I noticed that there is more than one article on someone named Javier Hernández. So, I made a disambiguation page for the name as a directory for each one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infil tr8 (talkcontribs) 20:20, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The stats are updated according to mediotiempo.com, they update their stats every Sunday. Remember that friendly games do not count, or any other tournament that isn't the Mexican playoffs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.226.170.239 (talk) 20:56, 1 February 2010 (UTC) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>chicharito w3 lov3 u alot...[reply]

Nickname

His nickname Chicharito (Little Pea) is well known but is not mentioned in the article. 128.220.138.101 (talk) 19:35, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it is. – PeeJay 21:34, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How do I edit main content page to add his nickname —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.194.68.175 (talk) 07:32, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Grandfather

His grandfather (Tomas Balcazar) is more known in Mexico than his father(Javier Hernandez) because he played at legendary "campeonisimo" and score two times agains France in the world cup. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.171.76.158 (talk) 18:23, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Height

Outdated Chivas profile he's not 5'7 he has been on the team since he was a child he's actually 5'9 as reported by Manchester United [1] Nimerga (talk) 15:16, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry yourself about it. There'll be a new PFA Footballers' Who's Who in a few months and then we'll have an official record of it. – PeeJay 15:20, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Height again. According to C.D. Guadalajara Hernández's Height is 1.72m (maybe it is not uploaded due it has ©2009). But according to ESPN his height is 1.74m. And the current source (personally I do not consider it as a reliable source because (as I can see) it doesn't come from Manchester FC's official website), says 1.77. This is becoming a pathetic edit war, because Chicharito is not as tall as it seems, I think that ESPN source should be used. TbhotchTalk C. 05:43, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm adding the source above (the official Manchester United Website) that states that he is 5ft 9in (± 1.75). TbhotchTalk C. 05:47, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

fifa.com list him as 175 cm http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/players/player=228599/index.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.104.195.89 (talk) 11:53, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Grandfather and grandson

Hi

Is it true that they both scored at age 22 in Mexico v France matches in their seperate World Cup Tournaments ?

If so, although it is trivia, it may deserve a mention ?

Chaosdruid (talk) 13:17, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Trivias should be avoided. TbhotchTalk C. 14:52, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thats not quite true and I thought an experienced editor like yourself would have known that.
Trivia is to be included into prose if it is warranted.
One person's trivia is another's interesting fact. Sweeping statements like "trivia should be avoided" are a little off
"Integrate trivia items into the body of the article if appropriate." & "This guideline does not suggest the inclusion or exclusion of any information; it only gives style recommendations." are just a couple from the guide you have put here
Chaosdruid (talk) 16:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Add it if you want, with source(s), it has received enough third party notability, it is irrelevant to his whole life, though. TbhotchTalk C. 17:16, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chícharito 14

His nickname and number are confirmed on his shirt on Manchester United's OFFICIAL MEGASTORE. There is a photo of him holding the shirt up as well as it being for sale. I added this in, but some idiot removed it? a photo of him on an OFFICIAL site is the best reference you could ever find. XTomScottx (talk) 23:33, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, and a t-shirts sales by Lady Gaga Official website says "Buy now the last single by Lady Gaga (Dance in the Dark), something that is false. The addition of that link is WP:OR and issues with a living person. TbhotchTalk C. 23:37, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was refering to this [[1]] he is holding the shirt, how is that not reliable is how I am confused as to why it is not added in. XTomScottx (talk) 23:44, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Becasue images are not reliabe sources. It's really difficult wait until Manchester F.C. confirm this? TbhotchTalk C. 23:46, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

fair enough. I am aware I have lost this battle as Wikipedia has some strange rules... but the megastore is a part of the Official Websites of football clubs and therefore in logical sense any photos or squad numbers will be correct if listed upon them. But if rules don't refer to this then fair enough to that, maybe users could make a debate for decisions about this in reference to football clubs megastores. XTomScottx (talk) 23:56, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Let's wait until the currently TBC became a 14, Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. TbhotchTalk C. 23:58, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The number on the shirt Hernandez is holding has clearly been added in some photo editing program. I've seen the original version of that photo and there was no number on it before. – PeeJay 00:24, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Squad number is now official. Please change to 14 evidence here: http://store.manutd.com/stores/manutd/products/product_browse.aspx?free_text=chicharito thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.73.108.210 (talk) 10:08, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The online store is run by Kitbag.com, not Manchester United, so that number is certainly not official yet. – PeeJay 13:20, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from 93.173.76.107, 4 August 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} change the photo of javier hernandez to one where he is wearing a red manchester united kit, not a black one

for example this one: http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Football/Clubs/Club_Home/2010/7/29/1280384923736/Javier-Hernandez-006.jpg (from the guardian)

We can only use free images. If the only free image we can get shows Hernandez wearing a black shirt, then that's the only one we can use. – PeeJay 21:56, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Like ^ said, only league games, which is currently at 3. Lushhhhhhhh (talk) 21:29, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about his goal agianst Wigan Athletic, they need to put that in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hidalgo96 (talkcontribs) 13:37, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Close participation in CD Guadalajara

The section about his participation in CD Guadalajara mentions that he is still leading the last tournament he played in Mexico, it must close with

" Javier Hernandez ended early the Bicentenario tournament because of his participation in the World Cup with 10 goals, the same number as Johan Fano (Atlante) and Herculez Gomez (Puebla), making them the top scorers of that tournament. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.211.105.98 (talk) 23:19, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Goal

He Has More Than 1 Goal With Manchester United. At Least 3, One Against Chelsea, One Against Valencia, One Against West Bromwich

Goal against Chelsea was in the community shield which isn't a league goal, same with Valencia (Champions League). Lushhhhhhhh (talk) 16:58, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nickname on jersey

I think it's of importance to mention that he wears "Chicharito" on the back of his jersey rather than his last name. There are very few players who do this, and I think it's a great nod to all Mexicans to be wearing his nickname like that. Says the article is locked, and I'm a WP newb, so if someone deems it noteworthy (which I certainly think it is!) then please add it. Thanks! 10:26, 18 January 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.234.134.103 (talk)

México vs Bosnia

While the first goal was a clear own goal by Miralem Pjanić, final arbitration granted authorship for the goal to Hernandez. Therefore I think it is right to add it. Leave some references here.

Too much details on Man Utd career

Does anyone else feel that the current section on Hernandez's Man Utd career is too detailed? He is in his first season in England, but the relevant section has already expanded to around 20 lines long. If we write up his article in the same manner in the next few seasons (assuming he is still at Man Utd) the article would swell up to an incredible length.

IMO, first, the goals he scored in pre-season should be removed. Friendly goals are hardly mentioned in most Wikipedia footballer articles. His debut in the MLS All Star game can stay (due to it being his debut), and so can the game against Chivas (coz it's part of the deal of his transfer). But I really don't see why the game against League of Ireland XI should be mentioned at all.

As to the goals scored in competitive matches, I would suggest that the reporting be kept to a minimum, unless the goal in question is a really important one or a landmark. For example, the line "Coming on at the start of the second half, Hernández got on the end of a pass from Antonio Valencia before the Mexican's shot deflected off his own face and into the net." seems completely unnecessary and is undue coverage. Craddocktm (talk) 05:02, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree. Mentioning nearly every single goal he has scored in prose is too much detail. I think the trimming down of the article can wait until the end of the season. 174.20.240.246 (talk) 03:05, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from 94.194.198.165, 25 April 2011

In the information subtitled, Manchester United, Transfer, paragraph two, it states that Hernández was transferred for an 'unknown amount' when in fact it was 6 million pounds[1] . 94.194.198.165 (talk) 12:53, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 DoneBility (talk) 15:15, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is a rumour that he was transfered for 6 million and some say 7.5 mil pound, offical statement by MAN UTD and PL is an undisclosed fee.
  – HonorTheKing (talk) 17:41, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is incorrect, Alex Ferguson confirmed Hernández cost 6 million here. I have reverted back so the article says 6 million. doomgaze (talk) 17:55, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: Debut season goals

He is the first player since Ruud van Nistelrooy to score 20 goals in his debut season according to http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/09/sir-alex-ferguson-manchester-united-liverpool-titles I think that deserves a mention in the article. 81.23.57.165 (talk) 09:04, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: El Salvador

it seems someone got trigger happy and added only 2 of his 3 goals to this page last night. as a result the international goals scored section is incomplete and i suspect the total caps/goals sub-section at the top of the page will be wrong too. page locked so cant amend myself. seems odd that an admin would get this wrong — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.202.216.62 (talk) 14:57, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article is corrent, the entire article stat that he scored 3 goals last night, and had a total of 17 goals in 24 apps.
Please be more specific on which part the error is located at.
  – HonorTheKing (talk) 15:52, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The goals of the great Hernandez in National Team are 18 and not 19 !!!! The first goal of the Mexico vs Bosnia is ABSOLUTELY an OWNGOAL ( Chicharito no touch absolutely the ball !!! ). Thank you for the possible and absolutely right correctin. Go Chicharito !!!
