Falconer School is an EBD secondary school that has existed since 1974. It is in Bushey, which is in Hertfordshire, and is located right next to Bushey Academy (known as Bushey Hall School until September 2009). The school has a virtual learning environment. It has children of ages 11 to 16.
Discipline
The school uses a point system with twenty points that can be earned every day adding up to a total of one hundred points every week. A criteria system is used for bad behaviour, ranging from 1 (very serious) to 8 (not so serious). Good behaviour is rewarded with gold cards and getting ten will transform them into a merit. A support centre room exists for children that misbehave.
Criticism
The school has been criticised for using a relatively complex discipline system. It currently holds an "average" rating from Ofsted.
VLE
The school's VLE is mainly in use for homework, however there are a range of other activities on the VLE, of which some can be accessed by guests, and others will require the pupil to agree to VLE guidelines and then create an account. Until 2009, the VLE had a chatroom feature where pupils could chat via text through the internet. This was later removed because of concerns about internet safety. Currently, there is a "Best Games" devision of the VLE where pupils can create games and publish them. The VLE can be found here.
