International versions table

I've just reverted an editor's removal of the Spin-offs (now labeled International editions) section of the article. While the change might be a reasonable one, in the absence of any edit summaries or discussions, and with the removal of all the text except the text describing the Israeli version of the show (why just that?) I don't see the point. Moreover, the Next Iron Chef, which is not an international version but rather an associated competition series held periodically to select an additional Iron Chef for the American version of the show. Its listing in the table was misleading, and needed attention. All in all, too much to let the edits stand. Drmargi (talk) 16:42, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re the United States reception section

The article contains the claim that "Iron Chef became a surprise cult favorite in the United States when it was picked up by the Food Network and dubbed in English"; this claim is pure horse manure!!! It had already been airing for some time in major US media markets like New York City on TV stations that lease blocks of airtime to Fuji TV's US arm, Fujisankei Communications International. I was watching Iron Chef for a long time prior to its pickup by the Food Network; I watched it via WNYC-TV (Channel 31) and, when WNYC-TV went dark, via Newton, NJ-based WMBC-TV (Channel 63).

I personally doubt that anyone at the Food Network and its parent company Television Food Network G.P. would ever even have become aware of the show's existence, had it not been for Fujisankei Communications' airing the original themselves on US TV stations as part of their leased-time service! I also remember watching the show in New York City quite a while before it showed up on the Food Channel. I have been a fan of Iron Chef for a while, but don't know enough about the show to help with the problems with this article. There should be some fans who can make this article work. % win formula

For a percent win it is win divided by wins plus losses. For the %age including the draws, I do not know the formula. For example, Rokusaburo Michiba 32 wins, 5 losses, 1 tie(draw) as 86.5%, how can anybody get that %age? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ribonucleicacid563 (talkcontribs) 04:45, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
