Thanks for uploading Image:Fairborn Logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Ma Li's Chapel

Hi Brian0324, I noticed an edit to Macau Protestant Chapel where you removed a sentence about the Chinese name of the Morrison Chapel.

In Chinese, the chapel is called Mother Li's Chapel, and I think this is an interesting fact worth preserving in the article. In English, named after an English Missionary; in Chinese, named after a female priest. I thought I would reinstate this information but if there is a reason not to do so please let me know. THanks! --Gangle (talk) 18:08, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, mea culpa re. the translation... please see Talk:Macau Protestant Chapel. --Gangle (talk) 13:01, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your invite!

Hi! Nice to meet you again. I've only created the templates of Buddhism and Christianity in China to return the bias of Editingman for his religion Islam. You could find out here. I am not biased for any religions because I am only a secular adherent, not very religious but I like to learn more about Buddhism and other religions, especially East Asian religions. Best of luck to you! Angelo De La Paz (talk) 13:57, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your edit in Caleb Cook Baldwin. But I still think that he was a ABCFM member because I found his infomation in the Missionary Herald published by American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. Can you check again please? Thanks again! --GnuDoyng (talk) 03:29, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Christianity in China

I am interested to work on aricles about Christianity in China so if you interested in cooperation send a message :)--Vojvodaeist 11:07, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I add my name in task group. I hope tat I will be usefull member of the project. There are a lot thinks to improve. I think that we can write some F-class article (or GA of course)--Vojvodaeist 17:57, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My idea is to improve one aricle per month (alone or in cooperation) and to write few short, new articles (persons, churches, books about Christianity in China). My first idea for improvment is Matteo Ricci so if you are interested send a message. There are literature (few books and many articles) about him and good articles on some other wikipedias.--Vojvodaeist 18:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you interested for cooperation in this article? It is very long and I believe that it can be (with many improvments) be improved to Ga of Fa article?--Vojvodaeist 16:39, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missionaries in Taiwan

Hi Brian0324 - appreciate your sterling work in Missions to China. However, while for later missionaries in Taiwan it makes some sense to describe them as missionaries to China, this certainly isn't the case for the early Dutch missionaries, who were entering a non-Chinese (pre-Chinese) society that couldn't in any way be described as "China" at that time. I've therefore removed the "Protestant Missions to China" infobox from those three missionaries, namely Robert Junius, George Candidius and Antonius Hambroek. Thanks! Taffy (talk) 01:28, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. The "movement" in ethnic Chinese missions really didn't begin in Taiwan. There is a lot of overlap, but what the Dutch began was not tied into the 19th century movement. Great work, btw.Brian0324 (talk) 14:56, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Russian text didn't come through on that image's description page (probably Unicode problem, or non-Unicode text). AnonMoos (talk) 21:10, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Charles Spurgeon

First of all, I am not an administrator here, but on other projects. ;) Secondly, thanks for fixing that! I had originally written that for the Simple English Wikipedia' Charles Spurgeon, and had later worked on it on a subpage here (I forget which one). It wasn't a joke, I just didn't know what you said. Thanks for correcting me. :) TheAE talk/sign 16:10, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protestant missions to China template

Hello again! I've left a comment on the Template talk:Protestant missions to China page, suggesting that the format of the template be changed to allow a greater compatibility with short articles. I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter, if you have one. On an unrelated point I've been working on articles connected with 19th century missions in Taiwan (my interest is largely in the linguistic side rather than the religious, but that's by the by) and you might find Taiwan Church News and Template:Christian missionaries in Taiwan of interest. Hi! I visited the Protestant Cemetery in Penang in March this year, where I photographed as many of the graves as I could, as part of my on-going project to document foreign and colonial cemeteries in Asia. In the process, I come across the graves of numerous missionaries. So yes, I have numerous photos of the cemetery and its environs. Replaceable fair use Image:Fairborn_1957.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Fairborn_1957.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:50, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Project news
  • The Christianity project and its related projects currently have 76 FAs, 8 FLs, and 148 GAs. We gained new recognized content in each field, with 4 FAs promoted, 2 FLs, and 3 GAs. Congratulations and a big thank you to all those who worked on these articles!
Member news
Other news
  • I am still working on the categorization matter. With any luck, we should have some results by the end of the month. There are also some discussions regarding project related activities at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. One issue in particular that might be addressed is possible elections of new coordinators. Anyone interested in serving in such a capacity is more than welcome to indicate as much.
Related projects news
Member contest of the month
  • The previous contests are still ongoing, because of the extreme amount of time the categorization is taking me. Anyone who can bring any of the few Stub class articles among the project's 1000 most often accessed articles by the end of July will get an award. Please see the details Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Christianity#Project challenge of the month.
Christianity related news
From the Members

Welcome to the Tenth issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

It has been a long time since the last coordinators election. There is a lot for people to do, and I certainly would welcome seeing any individuals with an interest in such a position put themselves forward as candidates. I in particular would very much like to see some degree of "specialization" in the coordinators, so that, for instance, we might have someone knowledgable about some of the specific Christian faith traditions or other main subjects, like Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, art, theology, and so on. If any parties who have experience with some of our faith- or- subject-based content would be interested in being candidates, I would love to see them do so. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

Paris Evangelical Missionary Society is a Protestant mission please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Evangelical_Missionary_Society

Perhaps it is a mixed up case with Paris Foreign Missions Society (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Foreign_Missions_Society) which is Catholic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Defesad (talkcontribs) 13:12, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Brian 0324, I'm a new editor and just recently uploaded my first article on Ian McCormack and have already been cited for deletion. I have 1 person supporting deletion and none supporting the article. If you have time, can you take a look at the article and suggest changes to me or support the article for staying. I'd really appreciate it - I don't know anyone who works in Wikipedia, so I'm just reaching out to people who have written articles I like, thanks

William Cooper Missionary killed in Boxer Rebellion

Dear Brian I was very excited to find your posts as I believe the missionary, William Cooper, of the CIM, is my great grandfather. I know virtually nothing about him and would love to find out more. Can you point me at possible reference sources/organsations? With best wishes, Lindsay Cooper Lindsaycoop (talk) 07:29, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    • Hello Lindsay. That's very interesting. Cooper was an assistant Director to Hudson Taylor and probably the highest-level missionary in the China Inland Mission to be killed in 1900. He is mentioned in many books. "The Jubilee Story of the China Inland Mission" "Hudson Taylor and the Growth of a Soul" "Martyred Missionaries of the China Inland Mission" and AJ Broomhalls series "Hudson Taylor and China's Open Century" (this is a 7 vol set and Cooper is probably mentioned several times in the last 3 volumes). There are probably others. If you did a Google books search using "China's Millions" (The CIM periodical) and his name you would possibly find some of his letters from the mission field. All the best to you!Brian0324 (talk) 14:51, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
