Legacy[1] is Philippine drama produced by GMA Network, under the direction of Jay Alterejos. The series features a star-studded cast headed by Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Sid Lucero, Geoff Eigenmann, Alessandra de Rossi and Mike Tan. It premiered on January 16, 2012, on GMA Telebabad replacing the epic-serye Amaya and January 18, 2012 worldwide via GMA Pinoy TV.[2]

Production

Dubbed as the “glossy drama masterpiece”, Legacy is a drama about love, deception and sacrifice. Under the helm of Jay Altarejos, Legacy is created by the GMA Entertainment TV Group, headed by Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Vice President for Drama; Redgie Acuña - Magno, Assistant Vice President for Drama; Cheryl Ching-Sy, Senior Program Manager; Winnie Hollis - Reyes, Executive Producer; and the creative team composed of Jun Lana, Creative Director; Jake Tordesillas, Creative Head; Suzette Doctolero, Creative Consultant; Denoy Navarro-Punio, Headwriter; and Dode Cruz, Creator.

The TV series is filmed and shot in Hi-Def 1080p, as GMA Network had already standardized most if not all of its shows by last 2011. Although in High Definition, it is broadcasted in 480i for standard definition as digital television has not yet been activated in the Philippines.

Synopsis

Don Romualdo Alcantara’s son, Cesar, falls in love with a factory worker named Isabel. Among all the girls that he dated, it is only Isabel whom Cesar gets serious with. However, the patriarch of Legacy Corporation forces his son to marry Eva, an heiress of the bank who lends them money in order to sustain their business. Cesar later decides to leave Eva and fight for his love for Isabel. But the situation will change when Eva tells him that she is pregnant.

Cesar once had a baby named Bernadette from the former bold star Anna Marie but Don Romualdo was not convinced that Cesar is the father of the baby.

One of the confrontation scenes in the series, the illegitimate daughters versus the legitimate one; the mistresses versus the legal wife.

One day, when Eva tries to confront Isabel, a squabble takes place eventually putting the rallying employees to jail, including Isabel and Lucio, her avid suitor. Isabel hopes and prays that Cesar will help them get out of jail. As expected, the case against them was pulled out and they are released.

Glad and happy, Isabel hurriedly goes to the office of Cesar to thank him for the help. But to her surprise, Cesar asks her to leave the company and puts an end to their relationship. Her world falls apart and the shock causes an emotional breakdown. Lucio will bring her to the hospital to have her checked and the news of pregnancy was announced by the doctor. She then decides to tell Cesar about the good news but Eva will drive her away.

Eva now faces her fear of Cesar leaving them once he learns of Isabel’s pregnancy. Her mom, Sophia, will convince her to continue pretending that she’s pregnant. They will adopt a baby to make their plan realistic. It will be a success and the baby will be named Natasha.

Years after, the newly hailed Marketing Officer of the Legacy Corporation, Natasha, stumbles upon Diana in a beauty contest and a rivalry is born between them.

The well-loved Chief Executive Officer of the Legacy Corporation Cesar Alcantara dies. His untimely death marks the fight of Bernadette and Diana for legal rights to their father’s name and estate.

Natasha learned to accept Diana as her sister, and has been protecting her and her mother Isabella from Lucio, because she wants to keep the promise she made to her father, that she will give them a chance because she believes he really loves them because he was ready to give up everything family, wealth and the Legacy just to be with Diana and Isabella.

Having three beautiful daughters battling to be the successor of the Legacy Corporation, who will emerge on top? Up to what extent are they willing to fight to inherit the legacy of their father? And who will reign as the sole owner of the corporation?

Cast and characters

Main cast

  • Heart Evangelista as Diana Calcetas. The love child of Cesar Alcantara and Isabel Calcetas. Grew up under the care of her mother, Diana has always longed for a fatherly love -- one thing that her evil stepfather Lucio can't give. Kind-hearted but tough. Street-smart and ambitious. She strives hard to fulfill her dreams and elevate herself from poverty.[3][4][5]
  • Lovi Poe as Natasha Alcantara. One and only daughter of Cesar Alcantara to his legal wife, Eva Alcantara. Pampered by the love of her father and grandfather, Natasha is a perfect example of a spoiled brat. But little did she know (and Cesar and Romualdo as well), she is just an adopted child.
  • Sid Lucero as Iñigo Salcedo. Wealthy, handsome and intelligent, Iñigo is a certified "dream boy" for every girls. But he has no time for an intimate relationship. Not because he doesn't like girls, but because his focus is on his goal -- to exact revenge on the person that made his and his family's lives miserable.
  • Geoff Eigenmann as Joshua "Josh" Castillo. A young businessman. An eligible bachelor. A major playboy. He fell in love with Natasha Alcantara. But their not-so-smooth love affair will become totally "rocky" when Diana Calcetas enters the picture. Who will he choose between the two stepsisters... the bratty Natasha or the sweet but tough Diana?[6][7]

  • Mike Tan as Arturo "Third" San Jose III. The grandson of one of the executives of Legacy Corporation and a marketing head of the said company. Handsome, smart, ambitious and a certified hunk. Third will use his charm to make Natasha Alcantara fall for him. Not because he loves her, but because he wants to use the heiress to elevate his position to the company.
