AMUR (Russian АМУР) is an initialism for ЗАО Автомобили и моторы Урала (English: JSC "Ural Automobiles and Motors") - a Russian company, a manufacturer of commercial vehicles, located in Novouralsk a closed town in Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. Prior to 2004, AMUR was called Уральский автомоторный завод (УАМЗ) ("Ural Plant Avtomotornaya" (UamZ))).
History
The factory was founded in 1967 as one of the units for the production of Zavod imeni Likhachova, more commonly called ZiL in hodivshee of the USSR Ministry of the Automotive Industry. In 1977 started their own production of the first vehicle-terrain truck ZiL-157. n 1987 commercial production of automobiles ZIL-130 and ZIL-131, and the tail car ZIL-130 model has been unified with the ZIL-131. By 1992 he had mastered the production of special equipment based on the trucks. In 1992 the company was privatized in the Joint-Stock Company "Ural Plant Avtomotornaya" (UAMZ). In 2002 the factory was declared bankrupt in 2003 the company became the property division of the Bank of North Treasury (holding North Prom Cohen), in 2004 the company reorganized into CJSC "Ural Automobiles and Motors' (AMOUR) [1]
In May 2004 AMOR Company and India's Tata Motors entered into a contract to build trucks. It was co-produced two models of Tata-407 , and 613 Tata- branded (Amur-4346). It was planned to sign a contract for 3 years, with the release of up to 5 thousand cars per year. [2] [3] But the project was never realized. In 2007 AMOUR planned establishment of a joint production with China's Geely Automobile , to produce models of Geely CK [4] and the Chinese company " Great Wall Motors "for the production of SUVs ZXAuto Landmark . In May of this year began a trial of their production [5] .
In early 2008, a joint production of passenger cars the Chinese had been suspended, with the possible resumption of production in August this year [6] . It was planned to release 3500 model SUVs per year [7] . But the project was not continued.
July 16, 2010 and UAB AMOUR fruntsuzkaya company Renault Trucks signed an agreement establishing a joint venture for the production of light trucks Midlum . Their production facilities planned for the Russian company JSC Amur Novouralsk . Investment in joint venture company will provide AMOUR, with Renault Trucks and its technology [8] .
In July 2011 a project company AMOUR was suspended because of his financial distress and bankruptcy. With the 2012 management company is in search of AMOUR investor to develop and launch the company. [9] .
