Paoli Dam (born 4 October 1980)[1] is an Indian actress who mainly appears in Bengali films. She spent her childhood in Kolkata and earned a postgraduate degree in Chemistry at the Rajabazar Science College, University of Calcutta
Dam started her career in Bengali television megaserial Tithir Athiti. She came into prominence with her 2009 film Kaalbela. In 2012 she made her Bollywood debut in Hate Story.
Early life
Dam was born in Kolkata to a Bengali Hindu family. She attended Loreto School and later Vidyasagar College in Kolkata graduating with a degree in Chemistry.[2] Subsequently she also earned a postgraduate degree in Chemistry at the Rajabazar Science College, University of Calcutta.[3][4]
Career
Dam began her acting career in the mega serial Tithir Atithi. Paoli had come into the focus after the success of Kaalbela directed by Gautam Ghose. In 2011 Paoli Dam starred in the film Mushrooms, which led to controversy in India when an explicit sex scene featuring her and actor Anubrato was leaked on the Internet.[5][6][7]
In 2012, she made her Bollywood debut in Hate Story.[8] Dam also acted in Vikram Bhatt's next production Ankur Arora Murder Case directed by Sohail Tatari, In this film she is playing character of a lawyer.[9] In the same year she began to work in a Konkani film Baga Beach directed by Laxmikant Shetgaonkar.[10]
