Splinter cell

How do we KNOW that he is going to be Irving Lambert in the upcoming splinter cell movie?? yeah foo's! harry potter--71.192.193.55 (talk) 23:10, 27 May 2010

Name

He is typically credited as "James Avery", so I don't really think the middle initial and "Senior" are necessary. For disambiguation purposes, I think the article should be "James Avery (actor)". What do you think? --T smitts (talk) 16:49, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since James L Avery Sr is typically requested as simply James Avery, I think it would be better to move this article to James Avery (actor), since his middle initial and senior really appear to be unnecessary and not-so user-friendly. Therefore I think we should move this article.--EclipseSSD (talk) 20:11, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fresh Prince

How in the hell does the career section of this article not even mention that he was Uncle Phil, the role for which he was best known? -Mike Payne (T • C) 18:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Death

News sources are reporting that he died on December 31, 2013. [1] 108.14.255.165 (talk) 19:16, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I can verify that as well. Read here. 99.95.221.248 (talk) 14:19, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am seeing this in several reliable sources. I think a correction will be in place soon.—John Cline (talk) 19:22, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Further, it appears that the sources cited do not state 1 January 2014 as the date of death; rather, those Wikipedia editors are reading the date of the article and assuming that to be the date of death. Edits changing the date to 31 December 2013, however, seem to be hastily reverted to the revision showing 1 January 2014. 76.175.17.28 (talk) 19:34, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He died on the 31st of December 2013, not on January 1st, 2014. Adamdangerzone (talk) 19:34, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

According to the current entry, James Avery died today on January 1st. But the article linked to the story does NOT state his actual date of passing. According to CNN.com, his publicist confirmed that he passed on Tuesday. Therefore the date of death is incorrect.

″Actor James Avery, who played the beloved Uncle Phil on the hit 1990s sitcom ′The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,′ died Tuesday, his publicist confirmed. He was 65.″

Please change the date of death from January 1st, to December 31st.

Year of Birth

Sources seem to differ was he 65 or 67 years old? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.237.34.211 (talk) 20:13, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It appears he was 65. See here Gloss • talk 20:17, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That one says 68 now... Seems like an even balance so far of 67 and 65... – Connormah (talk) 20:24, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It said 65 a few minutes ago, weird. Gloss • talk 20:29, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Probably best to wait for a LA Times, NY Times, or Washington Post obit to clear it up.. – Connormah (talk) 20:32, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, 1946 seems to be what most sources report now. I'd be in favour of a change.. – Connormah (talk) 20:41, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
1945 also being reported... – Connormah (talk) 20:43, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
CNN reports his age as 68 as does the NY Daily News. But multiple sources still say he was 65, so it seems that no one really knows as of now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.156.128.86 (talk) 21:49, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1948 seems to be the most logical date of birth. This is based upon his bio "He joined the United States Navy shortly after high school graduation and served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969." Had he been born in 1945 he would have been 23 and in the war versus 20 being born in 1948. Most people join for 4 years and would be out by 22. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.63.171.51 (talk) 22:37, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1948 is the correct year, after extensive search, i came across this from familysearch. We know his mother's names is Florence J Avery, his wife was Barbara Waters (has a son named Kevin Waters from a previous marriage) and after marrying Avery became Barbara Waters-Avery (ignore the missing dash) and we know that he has lived in New Jersey..this is probably the best source we have..--Stemoc (talk) 00:09, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible to get an image uploaded for him? I think it'd be appropriate, since this article will be heavily viewed now..--Uwatch310 (talk) 23:39, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Change his birthday to 27 november 1948. (according to imdb)

S.suetens (talk) 07:32, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb is not always a reliable source and better sources have been found with his correct birth year. 1945. Gloss • talk 07:35, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is great confusion to his age actually. Many sources are saying 68 and many others are saying 65. His publicist said he was 68 but and interview back in 2003 had his birth year as 1948 making 65. 79.97.208.89 (talk) 11:06, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that November 27, 1945 should be changed to November 27, 1948. Thank you.

I believe the following is reliable source for his age. It states his birth year as being 1948. It is not verified but I would say the publicist made a mistake when she said his age was 68. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KT9X-5S7 79.97.208.89 (talk) 03:36, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 2014

– The stats of the actor prove him more popular than other "James Avery"s. However, if popularity is not strong criterion for primacy, is the actor more significant than the Canadian baseball player, the US Civil War soldier, or the American colonist? Recent News (death)

With his recent death, there has a been a large surge of more recent coverage on him (albeight mostly from blogs, not so much news stations). If nothing else, the main people watching this article should prepare for that and/or look into them. He seems to be making quite a splash outside of the 'formal' news sources. 67.10.113.107 (talk) 23:34, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
