Recreating article without copyright infringement

Hi, and thanks for your help. My article-in-progress, 00:29, 31 January 2015 Diannaa (talk | contribs) deleted page User:Schradieck/sandbox (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.bargemusic.org/about.html) was not accepted because of copyright infringement. I want to recreate the article in my sandbox by replacing the citations to bargemusic.org. Can I go ahead and use my sandbox to do that without triggering some kind of automatic re-deletion process? The instructions say to contact you before trying to create a similar page. Schradieck (talk) 16:11, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Schradieck. The draft was deleted because all the content was copied directly from http://www.bargemusic.org/about.html. It's not okay to copy source material directly, even if you provide footnotes. It's okay to start an article on the same topic, as long as you write the material in your own words and don't copy from your sources. Please see WP:copyrights and WP:notability for some basic information on writing content for Wikipedia. -- Diannaa (talk) 00:41, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rosa's a fringe writer whose article was deleted by afd Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Manuel Rosa some years ago. The editor who created this version has a clear coi.[1] The reason I'm contacting you is that it looks very similar to Rosa's LinkIn bio.[2] There's been a history of attempts to promote Rosa's work in various articles, possibly some socks as well. Could you please look at the possible copyvio and handle it? Thanks. Dougweller (talk) 22:05, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Doug. I have paraphrased the material from linked-in and found a citation for the two awards. We still have notability and COI concerns, but it's enough to prevent immediate deletion. Best, -- Diannaa (talk) 01:00, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Dougweller (talk) 16:30, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thorne Nature Experience

Hello,

You recently deleted my page User:ThorneNature/Thorne Nature Experience for G12 copyright infringement. Although I have taken a majority of the text from Thornenature.org, I am a representative of Thorne and the words on the website have been written by me. Is there anyway I can create this article using information from Thornenature.org without being deleted for copyright infringement.

Thank you very much — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThorneNature (talkcontribs) 21:18, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you are the copyright holder, you can get an OTRS ticket in place by following the instructions at WP:Consent. Note the article must still meet our content guidelines for reliable sources, conflict of interest, and neutral point of view. -- Diannaa (talk) 23:09, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted file

Hello Diannaa. A license has been received at OTRS for File:Craigmiles Hall in autumn.jpg, which you deleted in November 2014. I am going to upload it directly to Commons rather than ask for it to be restored here and then deleted again after transfer. However, I would be much obliged if you could tell me any of the details, such as uploader name, upload date, description etc so I can note it at Commons. Thanks in advance. Green Giant (talk) 22:21, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. The author was shown as Rebecca Hiatt, license was cc-by-ca 3.0. The description: "Craigmiles Hall is located in downtown Cleveland, Tennessee. Built in 1878, the building was used as an opera house for several decades and renovated in 1993 by local businessman Allan Jones." Source: "Sent to me personally" -- Diannaa (talk) 23:11, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! Green Giant (talk) 12:40, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Diannaa,

I have created a page for Free and Fair Election Network earlier and submitted for review. Its non profit and most discussed organization in Pakistan after their comprehensive and impartial reports. This can be good topic for the general public to be made available on Wiki. I just wanted to know the reason for removing this page. I am new to wiki, your guidance will be much appreciated in this regards.

09:40, 4 February 2015 (UTC)Shaizee (talk)

Hi Shaizee. The draft was deleted because the material was copied from http://fafen.org/national-assembly-election-results-analysis/ and http://asiafoundation.org/resources/pdfs/PromotingFairElectionsinSouthAsia.pdf and possibly elsewhere online. Wikipedia articles have to be written in your own words, not copied from elsewhere, because prose you find online is protected under copyright law. You cannot post copyright material on Wikipedia even if you are the copyright holder, unless special licensing permissions are in place. If you have the copyright holder's permission to post the material here, please get an OTRS ticket in place using the instructions at WP:Consent. -- Diannaa (talk) 15:19, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Page (Open Roberta)

Hello, you deleted our article about Open Roberta because of copyright infringement. We are the owners of the mentioned website (http://www.open-roberta.org) and used some text from it as fundament for the Wikipedia article. As I read within your comment regarding the Thorne Nature Experience article, we have to get an OTRS ticket in this case. Nevertheless we put a certain amount of work into the article and now its completely gone. So is there any possiblity to restore it after that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.26.78.103 (talk) 10:47, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If and when OTRS permission is received, the article can be restored. -- Diannaa (talk) 15:08, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image undeletion

Would it be possible to undelete File:Johnandrewmorrow.jpg? We just received permission on this OTRS thread from the author stating that he had permission to use it, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kevin Rutherford (talk) 17:43, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kevin. I have restored the file, but will have to leave it up to you to add the ticket and verify that the license matches, as I am not an OTRS team member. -- Diannaa (talk) 19:38, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Page: WAL Underground

Hello.

I noticed you deleted the WAL Underground page I made. I included the news articles to support the validity of the company. When you have a moment, will you please explain what I can do to get this page restored. Thank you! --Kaplanau (talk) 17:47, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kaplanau. The draft was deleted because most of the content was copied from https://finance.yahoo.com/news/world-armwrestling-league-air-espn-190700065.html and possibly elsewhere online. Wikipedia articles have to be written in your own words, not copied from elsewhere, because prose you find online is protected under copyright law. D-- I was wondering if you might be able to find a fair use photo to use for this article since you have a much better understanding of Wikipedia policy guidelines as to same. Kierzek (talk) 14:23, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There's two images at http://spartacus-educational.com/Maria_Reiter.htm. The picture of her as an adult is the property of Getty Images and thus is not available for fair use. The one with Hitler may be misidentified, as Yad Vashem says it's Gudrun Himmler. The color photo at www.ww2incolor.com is likewise probably misidentified, as http://www.thirdreichruins.com/berghofvisitors.htm says it's actually Gertrude Deetz. Regardless, the color photo may be the property of LIFE Magazine and thus unavailable for fair use. So I've hit a dead end. If you could hunt around and send me links to any likely images i will have a look. Note: Mimi, Geli, and Eva were all far younger than Hitler. We need to include this somehow. I am hunting in Kershaw for a citation -- Diannaa (talk) 16:06, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kierzek and Diannaa. I believe I saw a picture of Reiter in her youth in the same 1973 German-Austro film I found a picture of Rabatsch in her youth, which is now featured on her article. I will re-watch the documentary and let you know if I find one. I'm sure I saw a picture of her. Jonas Vinther (speak to me!) 20:03, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Jonas, that would be excellent -- Diannaa (talk) 20:08, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Picture of Jean Jacques Moreau.pdf

The picture has been given lont time ago by J.J. Moreau itself. It was one of his identity card pictures. He died in January2015 wihout any descendants. What should I do ?

If you have the copyright holder's permission to upload the image here, please arrange for them to send an email releasing the photo to us under license. There's instructions at WP:consent. If you are going to go to all this trouble, I suggest you find a higher quality image, as File:Picture of Jean Jacques Moreau.pdf is not of sufficient size or quality for inclusion in the encyclopedia. And PDF is an incorrect format for images; it should be jpg or png. -- Diannaa (talk) 18:44, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Username to block

I am not allowed to report to UAA right now, so I have to request from individual admins: could you please block Special:Contributions/Wikijerkoff. - Bossanoven (talk) 19:38, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The AN discussion says you are indefinitely topic banned from reporting at WP:UAA. I don't think the intention was that you would be allowed to circumvent the ban by making requests to individual admins, so you need to stop doing that. Besides, the bot caught this particular name, and it's already listed at WP:UAA. -- Diannaa (talk) 19:51, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I was given this message from an admin involved in the process: User talk:Bossanoven/Archive 7#WP:AN.23Again, a UAA topic ban for Hoops gza. - Bossanoven (talk) 19:54, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks for the link. -- Diannaa (talk) 19:56, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it seems a little ambiguous. Am I allowed to report usernames to individual admins? Mind you, I wouldn't burden you with all of them. - Bossanoven (talk) 20:00, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:Nyttend was the admin who instituted the ban, so my feeling is yes, it's okay to point admins at bad usernames, and for you to do so will help us evaluate your readiness to have the ban lifted at some point in the future. But please check the WP:UAA board first, and see if the name is already listed there for admin attention. -- Diannaa (talk) 20:07, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks for your help in these regards. - Bossanoven (talk) 20:11, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember any such ban, so in lieu of the AN discussion, I suppose I can say that I agree with what I said in the linked section; a ban from UAA shouldn't be construed as a ban from making private requests on admin talk pages, i.e. there shouldn't be any problem with the request that started this section. Of course, any admin can say "you've overwhelmed my talk page with bad requests; don't come here again with block requests", so please continue to be careful not to burden an admin with all of them. I hope this isn't construed as an objection against anything you've said or done here. Not sure how else to phrase it. Nyttend (talk) 03:52, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tatiana Antonchenko

Dear editor Diannaa, You deleted on 05.02.2014 the draft of my article titled "Tigran Maytesian" submitted to the Articles for Creation for G12 copyright infringement (your reference on 23:54, 5 February 2015 Diannaa (talk | contribs) deleted page Draft:Tigran Maytesian (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.tigranmaytesian.com/en/bioen.htm)- see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Tigran_Maytesian&action=edit&redlink=1. Actually, it was by no means a copyright violation from my side as a contributor to this article. I am the web content manager of www.tigranmaytesian.com. The copyright holder, Mr. Tigran Maytesian has entitled me to use information from his website www.tigranmaytesian.com, including his biography and CV in full, i.e. close to the text, without paraphrasing it. I officially have the copyright holder's permission to post the material as well as direct access to all materials and information contained at his website. I sent a request to the OTRS team to get a ticket and I am waiting for their confirmation. Nevertheless I put a a great amount of work into the article and now its completely gone. Could you please restore it in full? I would appreciate if you could undelete my submission of the article and give me a possibility to edit it with your sound advice and recommendations. Should you need any proof of that you can contact Mr.Tigran Maytesian directly (contacts are at the above mentioned website. Thank you in advance for your soonest response. Best wishes, 95.67.102.245 (talk) 21:15, 6 February 2015 (UTC)Tatiana Antonchenko, web-content manager of www.tigranmaytesian.com[reply]

If and when OTRS permission is received, the article can be restored. --Diannaa (talk) 22:35, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I had a look, and it is not, as it stands, sufficient to confirm permission; I've replied explaining why not. This might be a good time to remind Ms Antonchenko that if she is personally or professionally connected to the subject of the article then she has a conflict of interest, and is strongly discouraged from making any edit to the page about him, though of course welcome to suggest changes on the talk page at any time. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:38, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tatiana Antonchenko

Dear Justlettersandnumbers, dear Diannaa,

I placed a neutral, reliably sourced information in the article about Tigran Maytesian. My aim was not to promote my own interests, neither business or financial, or those of Mr. Tigran Maytesian. He is one of prominent contemporary violinists, musical pedagogues and outstanding scientists really worthy to be mentioned in Wikipedia. I have got a request from OTRS team to confirm authorization of the copyright owner from the address listed in the contact page on your website. The copyright owner has already sent this authorization from the required contact e-mail address. Actually, my contributing of this article is by no means a paid advocacy as I receive no financial compensation from Mr. Tigran Maytesiam to use Wikipedia to promote his interests. I am a freelancer on no-paid basis to contribute but not his paid employee or a family member / friend. I asked him for the requested authorization as the editor Diannaa deleted my contributed article marking it as “Unambiguous copyright infringement of Tigran Maytesian's website”.

Dear Justlettersandnumbers, in Importance of civility conflict of interest it goes that disparaging comments made about the subject of the article/author and about the author's motives should be avoided, since they may be seen as forbidden personal attacks, and may discourage the article's creator from making future valuable contributions. Remember not to bite the newcomers, please.

I am a volunteer with no financial interest or personal bias to the topic. In fact, from my side it was an attempt to advance the aims of Wikipedia and to supplement the current Wikipedia list of contemporary living violinists with another internationally recognized and prominent person really worth to be placed there.

Please tell me if it is really possible to share knowledge about such prominent person for encyclopaedic purposes of Wikipedia without being hiding under any pseudonimic names of the so-called "unbiased" editors? I don't want to sound offended or to be misunderstood but it seems that for such volunteering, non-paid contributors as me the Wikipedia community is not a friendly but rather a Chinese Wall, a barrier.

I would really appreciate if you could give me your sound advice and recommendations on how it is possible to create an article about this notable person (Tigran Maytesian) and not to be accused of advancing his interests.

Thank you in advance for your kind response and clarifications. Best wishes, 95.67.102.245 (talk) 12:02, 7 February 2015 (UTC)Tatiana[reply]

Advice?

Me again. What, if anything, should I do next about this? Foreign-language wikitext copied here as hidden text, no talk-page attribution of the source, keeps triggering the bot. My attempts here, here and here to start a dialogue have borne no fruit. Prolific and productive editor, so I'm reluctant to go to noticeboards etc., but the lack of response bothers me. Thanks as always, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:58, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The odds of starting a dialogue are negligible, as the user has not responded to a user talk page post since 2011. Nevertheless I will post something on his talk page. -- Diannaa (talk) 00:13, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion request

Hi, per Wikipedia:Possibly_unfree_files/2015_January_31#File:Jetboil_burner_bottom.JPG, can you also delete File:Jetboil accessories.jpg and File:Jetboil sumo al.jpg? I forgot to list it, thanks.--Otterathome (talk) 11:28, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
