Moju Chowdhury Hat or Maju Chowdhury Hat,[1] (Bengali: মজু চৌধুরী হাট) or Rahmat Khali, also known as MCH, is a town and transportation hub in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila of Lakshmipur District, in south-eastern Bangladesh. It is an island bay area of the Meghna River estuary of the Bay of Bengal. The river has Chandpur, Bhola and Barisal area nearby. The village was founded in 1965.[citation needed]
It is a tourist destination for those travelling to seek sun, wanting to hear the sound of birds chirping and of the river flow, and for those wanting to get fresh air. The nearest residential areas are in Barisal, Bhola District, Feni District, Noakhali District and Chittagong Subdivision (the second largest city in Bangladesh).
Geography and agriculture
It is surrounded by Bhola in the west, Bay of Bengal in its south, Noakhali District on its East and Raipur Upazila to its North. Proud residents of Moju Chowdhury Hat's grew up in a place with plenty of greenery. This destination is not the densely populated and cosists of 4,2000people. Coast Guard
The coast guard post in Moju Chowdhury Hat has been assigned by the Bangladesh Navy[2] in 2010. The Naval officials in the Lakshmipur District with their four patrol boatss have been here for the protection of the fishes and Fisherman. This is a mission of the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
About Coast Guard
On Dec 19 in Laxmipur the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Fisheries Department in a joint drive, seized 25,000 metres of current net from Motirhat, Ludhua fisheries ghat, and Kataria area of the Meghna River under Sadar upazila of the district. At the same time, they also seized 2,000 metres of Behondi net from the spots. During the drive, Shahidul Islam, commander of Coast Guard, Moju Chowdhury Hat unit, and Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Sunil Chandra Ghosh, among others, were present. Senior Fisheries Officer Sunil Chandra Ghosh said the market price of the seized nets was about Tk 7,00,000. The seized nets were later destroyed by burning at Moju Chowdhury Haat on Friday morning at the order of Sadar upazila nirbahi officer (UNO).
Tourist attractions
The local area offers a ferry ride between Elisha to Moju Chowdhury Hat and Elisha Ferry Ghat in Bhola (27km Distance) for visitors.[3].
Launch Terminal
The terminal was Established in 2005 and offers services from Dhaka to Moju Chowdhury Hat, Chittagong to Moju Chowdhury Hat, and between Moju Chowdhury Haat to Bhola and Barisal and is open all round the year.
Sluice Gate
The New Bridge Sluice Gate is a Bridge in Bangladesh, established in Moju Chowdhury Hat 2002. The construction for which started 1999, completed in 2000, and was opened for the public in 2002.
There is also an Old Bridge
which is a Sluice Gate in the Rahmat Khali, Moju Chowdhury Hat. This bridge was constructed starting in 1972, opened in 1975. The Old Bridge was first established in Lakshmipur, Sadar Rahmat, Khali, Bangaldesh. [4]
