high school graduate

Please could this term be explained? Does it involve a qualification or does it just mean she completed her time at secondary school? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.103.145 (talk) 22:15, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Swedish school system has changed repeatedly in the last hundred years or so. Based on when she was born, I would say that she likely has not passed a formal "graduation exam" like the German Abitur; however, that the requirements for GPA and the level of education were still sufficiently strict (unlike today...) that attendance and minimal efforts were not enough to pass. Still, it is a high school degree---nothing more. 188.100.204.157 (talk) 22:02, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This source is using untruthful quotes from Israeli media. Wallström has never said "we must resort to violence", as has been widely reported in Israel, her words were that if nothing is done, the Palestinians will feel they have to resort to violence. I was not allowed to correct this historical revision, however. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.209.145.244 (talk) 05:08, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The quote was in Swedish "– Man kommer tillbaka till situationer som den i Mellanöstern där inte minst palestinierna ser att det finns ingen framtid för oss, vi måste antingen acceptera en desperat situation eller ta till våld." [1] She used "we", by which she probably ment the Palestinians but it's not for us to change a quotation. A quotation should be written exactly as it was said or written. Speaking as a professional academic translator at Lund University, Wiki is using an incorrect translation which infers a semantic message not existent in the actual quote. The fact that the phrase begins with "där inte minst palestinierna ser att det finns ingen framtid för oss," i.e. "för oss/for us" proves she is talking about their thoughts. You are using a mistranslated untruth which is intended to infer something she never said by excluding important pronouns and referents.
