You can use "Email this user" in the panel on the left, but I will probably reply on your talk page, or the article talk page, as discussions should be open and on the record.
I have experienced problems with e-mails not being delivered, so please leave me a message on this page if I have not replied within 48 hours.

Broadcasted

The Wiktionary definition of Broadcasted states the use is proscribed, so it should not be used. The word also appears on Wikipedia:Lists_of_common_misspellings/B

Broadcasted appears in some dictionaries, but others, e.g. Chambers state "Sorry, no entries for Broadcasted were found".
Broadcast appears in all dictionaries, and should be used as COMMONALITY - "Wikipedia tries to find words that are common to all varieties of English".

A February 2017 search for Broadcast gave over 180,000 uses, compared with a search for Broadcasted which gave just 61.
Of these 61, 15 are redirects to "Broadcast" articles, 16 refer to a Canadian TV award and 5 relate to a 1924 cartoon. The rest are quotations.

Ajay V/Kolly Empire spam

Hey, I know you have done a lot of anti-vandalism work with the Ajay V spam, so I wanted to let you know I opened an SPI but may need to take it over to ANI. Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Vithursan777 Chrissymad ❯❯❯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Assam → Asom

Arjayay, I just wanted to change the "Assam" word to "Asom"[1] in the article Assam . Why you termed it as "Vandalism" ? (talk)debananda nath 09:32, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Debanandanath - Wikipedia uses the COMMON NAME in English, which is Assam, we do not use the "local" or "official" name.
By changing things like List of governors of Assam to List of governors of Asom, or List of Chief Ministers of Assam to List of Chief Ministers of Asom or List of constituencies of Assam Legislative Assembly to List of constituencies of Asom Legislative Assembly, you break all the links, so people cannot find the relevant articles.
I see you have changed this again, and been reverted again, please follow our policies and guidelines and leave it as Assam - Thank-you- Arjayay (talk) 11:16, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tata Institute of Social Sciences

May I know the reason why the edits made to Tata Institute of Social Sciences have been reverted. There has been a suggestion that this article has to be divided into multiple articles and the info about deputy directors was obsolete so I updated. I can't see any misinformation. Mahesh432 (talk) 09:25, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mahesh432 As stated in my edit summary "Rv unexplained deletions and addition of ELs to bodytext"
To explain that, you deleted two references, and the associated text, without providing any reason, and also added unsourced text. Furthermore, you added 5 external links to the bodytext - although External links should never be added to the body. Please see WP:Verification, WP:Referencing for beginners and Wikipedia:External links - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 16:35, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Arjayay, that was helpful. I would follow these going forward.Mahesh432 (talk) 17:01, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ho people

{Post moved from top of page and given title}

You have half knowledge about Ho people. Please don't erase their culture and tradition.. Very soon I am adding govt . official documents. You have half knowledge so don't try to edit as per Wikipedia guidelines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Unvwiki (talkcontribs) 12:01, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unvwiki
Firstly, please put new posts at the bottom of the page, including a section title and Please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp.
Secondly, what I "know" or what you "know" about the Ho people is totally irrelevant - Wikipedia is not at all interested in what people "know", Wikipedia is only interested in reporting what published reliable sources have already said about a subject.
Thirdly, all information added to an article should be Verifiable by providing citations to reliable sources so the information can be checked, by anyone else, at any point in the future. The WP:Burden for providing these sources is on the person adding the information, and any unsupported information can be removed in accordance with the Wikipedia guidelines already mentioned.
As I have suggested in both my edit summaries and on your talk page, you should read, and follow Help:Referencing for beginners.
Please do not re-add, or add further unsupported information, as this will be deleted, and, if you continue to do this, you are likely to be blocked from editing - Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 12:22, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ELs

Where can I find the prohibition of having ELs in the bodytext? I need a version of Wiki for Dummies! It's too bad that the only possible sourcing that might respond to what the citation demands is prohibited! @Arjayay: Jzsj (talk) 20:12, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jzsj please see WP:ELPOINTS No 2 "External links should not normally be used in the body of an article" - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 20:24, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
HI. Can't we grant this as an "unnormal" case, since it's the best way we can get rid of the ugly tag in the next couple of years! I would rather not add 4 more "primary" references since these make some editors shudder.@Arjayay: Jzsj (talk) 20:29, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting Contents related to Flowers TV

Flowers TV is a licensed and known TV channel in Malayalam which I watch and like a lot. It is noticed that you deleted my entries connected to Flowers TV. May I Know the reason . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nikhilrajn (talkcontribs) 12:52, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nikhilrajn - As stated in my edit summary it was deleted because it was "Totally unsourced"
Everything added to Wikipedia needs to be verifiable by providing citations to reliable sources
You added the channel owner, the start date, the Chairman and The Managing Director without any references
You then claimed it is "the leading channel in Malayalam" and claimed all shows have "celebrity presence" - both claims would need very good sources, as we do not allow promotional claims or puffery.
Finally you listed "prominant serials" and a "best serial award in the year 2015" again without any sources.
Please see Help:Referencing for beginners for how to cite sources and please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 13:08, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Highlanders

  • [Marin Highlanders RFC], is a Multi-program Rugby club, located in Marin, California. Marin Highlanders are one of the Premiere clubs in Northern California, fielding sides from U-8 through varsity.

Was was this reverted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.139.153.2 (talk) 16:11, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have already explained this at User talk:12.139.153.2 at 15:43, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Highlander is a disambiguation page - an index of articles, - however Marin Highlanders or Marin Highlanders RFC does not have an article, so should not be included in an index of articles.
Furthermore, as also explained, External links, such as Marin Highlanders RFC, which link to a website, should not be included in the bodytext of articles, or disambiguation pages. - Arjayay (talk) 16:29, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thapa

I never added anything, Materialscientist left a message on his profile that Thapa was vandalized on 31st December. I found it and undid it. I never added any references :P Aaryan33056 (talk) 14:47, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aaryan33056 - User:Materialscientist said nothing about Thapa on his talk page, and if he wanted to revert something, I'm sure he would have done it by now.
The posts were by User:103.235.197.15 a sock of blocked User:Thapa Kazi999, who was blocked for "Persistent addition of unsourced content" and you have just re-added the same unsourced content - please do not do that again. - Arjayay (talk) 15:02, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I didn't know that he was a sock, so forgive me there and as for User:Materialscientist and I quote "Sorry to write here but the article Thapa has been vandalised before too on 31 December, 2016 by Damien2016. He has removed all subtopics like Bagaaley Thapaetcs. Plz check and restore all vandalised subtopixs. Best Wishes". It's right on top of his talk page. Aaryan33056 (talk) 15:06, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that piece at the top was added by the sock in this edit at 07.05, whilst the section on Vandalism further down the page was added by the sock in this edit at 13.34. I suspect Materialscientist just hasn't noticed it. - Arjayay (talk) 15:14, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wmdly - I have just re-read MOS:BLPLEAD and accept that you are right - apologies for my mistake - I have reverted myself. It is a long time since I have read the BLP Lead section, and have noticed other things I have forgotten - like the places of birth and death should not be in the opening brackets, which so many articles have - we live and learn. Hello IP from Los Angeles
Please put all new talk-page posts at the bottom, not hidden in the middle of the page. Use the "add topic" tag at the top and give the post a title, Please also sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp.
Secondly, please read and follow Help:Referencing for beginners and include these citations at the same time as you make any additions/alterations to the text.
Finally. please be sure that the citation you add actually includes the information you are adding, without copying the exact text, as that would be a copyright infringement. - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 17:37, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be interested in helping me with two things?: 1.) I revised g.o.d. and NRG (which im still inserting citations into) because 90s groups have little info such as H.O.T. and g.o.d. I was hoping to update them 2.) there was an article I wanted to create for one korean group thats not on here, but i need an account, which I cant get. could u help me create it, and ill try to work from there? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.174.35.70 (talk) 18:12, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP from Los Angeles
If there is little information, then little can be said, because our articles can only include what has already been published in reliable sources, which need to be cited when the information is added.
I am not sure why you say that you cannot get an account - you are currently editing from a dynamic Time Warner Cable IP - and although the abuse log for that IP here shows that there have been a number of problematic edits, but the IP has never been blocked.
As for writing a new article - I only write articles on subjects I know about - please read WP:Your first article and use the Wikipedia:Article wizard - Arjayay (talk) 18:28, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1.) Is there a way to recover my edits on g.o.d.?
2.) How do I add pictures in an article?-76.174.35.70 (talk) 03:48, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again IP from Los Angeles - I still don't understand why you don't open an account, but to answer your questions:-
"Is there a way to recover my edits"
Every edit to an article is saved in the article's history, ("View history" tab at the top) you can look at, and copy test from, any old version - including the wiki-mark up if you click edit on an old page. If you edit and save an old version, you will over-write any subsequent edits, so your changes are likely to be considered vandalism.
Please do not just re-add the text you used before and stick one reference at the end. Every part of the text you add needs its own reference, which should be added at the same time as the text, and these should be formatted as explained in Help:Referencing for beginners.
"How do I add pictures in an article?"
Images are very complicated - please read User:Yunshui/Images for beginners for an overview - the most important points are:-
  • Most images on the Web, in magazines or books, are copyright and cannot be used in Wikipedia. If you did not take the picture yourself, it is probably not one that Wikipedia can use. Wikipedia takes WP:COPYRIGHT issues very seriously.
  • If you want to upload an image from your computer for use in an article, you must determine the proper license of the image (or whether it is in the public domain). If you know the image is public domain or copyrighted but under a suitable free-license, upload it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of here, so that all projects have access to the image. If you are unsure of the licensing status, see the file upload wizard for more information - But as an IP you cannot upload files to en.wikipedia. Please also read Wikipedia's image use policy.
  • If you want to add an image that has already been uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, add [[File:File name.jpg|thumb|Caption text]] to the area of the article where you want the image to appear – replacing File name.jpg with the actual file name of the image, and Caption text with a short description of the image. See our picture tutorial for more information. Please note that the file name is case sensitive, so it must be exactly the same -
Try practicing in your sandbox before adding images to an article - as they often go wrong. Good luck - Arjayay (talk) 11:17, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My article for the South Korean Band, "M. Street" has been submitted for review. What now?76.174.35.70 (talk) 14:59, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You wait - as it says "This may take a week or more." I am not a new article reviewer, so I can't help - but you can carry-on improving the article whilst it is in the queue.
Two comments:-
  1. As stated at MOS:ITALIC Major works such as albums should be in italics, like this, whilst minor works, such as songs and singles should be in quotes "like this".
  2. You have divided the discography into Albums, Singles and Single Albums - I don't know what a Single Album is - is this the Korean for what we would call an Extended play usually known as an EP? i.e. more than 3 tracks, or 30 minutes long, but not a full album? If so you should clarify this. EPs are formatted in italics like albums - so if the EP is known by the same name as the title track, we can tell whether you are talking about the track, or the whole EP, by whether it is in quotes or italics.
Good luck with the review - Arjayay (talk) 15:32, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sadly, it was declined, bcuz apparently, i didnt have enough citations. As for the single albums, ill try to explain in case you see it again. A single album is two different things: a track with an instrumental version (Ex: Kiss Kiss by Ladies Code,) or it is an album with 3-4 tracks (ex: Warrior by B.A.P.) What did you think of the body paragraphs of my article? (Career, suicide of Seohyun, and the last section?)76.174.35.70 (talk) 02:34, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Spurs season 2006-07

I would be grateful if the changes made to the Tottenham Hotspur season 2006-07 page are not reversed, as the edits made today provide more detailed information than the older version (which was not detailed enough). My changes also make the page consistent with the layout/detail level for preceding Tottenham seasons. Many thanks.

Hi there from Portugal,

if you notice, I am actually trying to improve the article, it's the creator (User:Jbindoma) who has created a page that has no business existing because player has not yet appeared in a single pro game. The text is also ripe with unref'd POV and very poor English, which I will fix later.

Oh, and the player name is definitely not MANUEL HERRERA LÓPEZ, that's his full name, if you don't let me insert his sporting name (just check his BDFUTBOL profile, Spanish site), at least shorten it to MANUEL HERRERA.

Attentively, happy editing --193.137.135.2 (talk) 14:50, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't think i was unpolite or aggressive in my original message, but fair enough, no reply. I have finished cleaning the piece up now, if you still think the other guy's version is better please revert me again. And i repeat, as of now this is an open and shut case of AFD, as the player does not meet WP:NOTABILITY; ah, and pretty much all the refs (and the LINKS) say his football name is "Súper", but OK, "Manuel Herrera" (and even more, if you want to reinsert the "López" bit) stays.

Attentively (note: the first IP is me editing from work, this one from home. Not trying to avoid anything by IP-hopping, only have these two) --85.242.133.151 (talk) 17:38, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting on Chi Pu article

Hello there, As I'm sure you have seen, I have been working on editing the Chi Pu article. I am new to editing on Wikipedia and I appreciate your alteration and/or reversion of my edits when they are inappropriate. I see that you noted the format of titles in one of your previous edits on the page. Would you be able to tell me the formatting guidelines regarding the titles of awards? I noted that some award titles in the article are italicized while others are left unformatted. If this is an issue for which a Wiki guideline page exists, I would really appreciate your guidance through a link to that article. If not, please let me know what the proper formatting guidelines are, as I can see you are very involved with this article, as well as Wikipedia in general. Thanks Incurbust (talk) 01:06, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Incurbust - thanks for your post.
The general guidance is Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting (shortcut MOS:TEXT) - but this does not mention awards at all. I have looked for advice elsewhere, but cannot find any.
I assume you are referring to the edit summary I added "format - songs in quotes but albums, films + series in italics". This is based on the Italic text section of the MOS:TEXT page (Shortcut MOS:ITALIC) which states that italics should be used for "Major works of art and artifice, such as albums, books, video games, films, musicals, operas, symphonies, paintings, sculptures, newspapers, journals, magazines, epic poems, plays, television programs, radio shows" but "Minor works (and any specifically-titled subdivisions of italicized major works) are given in double quotation marks"
In the lack of specific guidance, the first principle should be consistency, they should all be the same. Personally, I would avoid italics, but that is just my personal preference, not a guideline, but please do not use bold, as that would contravene MOS:BOLDFACE. - Arjayay (talk) 11:28, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the images you added to the infobox as that contravened our manual of Style. Revert ?

May I know what caused you to revert my edits on Hyderabad ? I just corrected GDP ranking of Hyderabad (from third- to fifth- to fifth or sixth) as per the already defined sources (PwC rank Hyderabad as sixth, Brookings rank Hyderabad as sixth and the Safe Water Network mention Hyderabad as fifth largest city contributor to India). What is wrong in my edits. Just correcting to what the sources mention. Vibhss (talk) 15:01, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, Vibhss my mistake - I have now read the talk-page and just went in to revert myself and had an edit conflict with you reverting me - Apologies again - Arjayay (talk) 15:05, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Arjayay: It's OK. GDP of Indian cities has been a much discussed topic on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indian Economy in the result of which it was being agreed to use "range of GDP" as per estimates of different sources (because those estimates varied greatly). This also resulted in using a kind of range for GDP ranking also. Vibhss (talk) 15:24, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
