Just wondering why you erased most of the Nigadoo article?
You probably don't give a crap but the town Neguac is way too close to Miramichi in your NB map. It should be that close to Tracadie.
Welcome aboard! Nice piece on Saint John. I just moved it though to Saint John, New Brunswick. We've been using that naming convention for a while. Hope you don't mind. Looking forward to seeing more from you. Danny
Welcome to Wikipedia! My wife and I are from Fredericton, too; I took a year off of my studies at UNB to teach in South Korea. Now when I get back, I guess I'll have to log out of Wikipedia from the computer labs... --Stephen Gilbert

Canada's official name
We have a question with the article Canada. Do you know if our country's official name nowadays is "The Dominion of Canada"? --Menchi 20:49 May 8, 2003 (UTC)
I read an article about that a few years ago. It is no longer officially the "Dominion of Canada", that name being phased out gradually over the 1960s and 1970s (remember "Dominion Day" was renamed "Canada Day" sometime around then). There didn't seem to be any real reason for them dropping the name "Dominion", it just happened. -- JPK
Dominion Day was renamed to Canada Day when the Dominion of Canada was shortened to just Canada - all this followed the repatriation of Canada's constitution, and took place on October 27, 1982[1] Cheers Plasma east 05:23, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Hi JP, do you have anything to add to the Canadian political scandals list? -Rj 03:25, Apr 12, 2004 (UTC)
Hello. I'd just like to know why you moved CKXT to Toronto One. I can understand it for TVOntario, as it has many rebroadcast transmitters (although they're of the same signal.) But CKXT is just an individual station with an independent brand, one that may or may not change if the station is purchased. I just think it's a better idea to organize the stations by callsign and redirect any frequently-used brands to that page. CJOH isn't listed at CTV Ottawa, nor is CKND at Global Manitoba. -- Rdash (t) 20:07, May 5, 2004 (UTC)
Because Joe Viewer never refers to Toronto One as CKXT. If this were simply a list of TV stations, an entry by callsign would be more appropriate, but in a mass-interest encyclopedia, I think it's best to refer to it by its common name. If T1 ever rebrands, it wouldn't take much just to move the page again. Kirjtc2

New Brunswick elections
Thanks for your help in claifying the articles for the New Brunswick elections (with respect to leaders). I was wondering what your source was, or, whether it was just general knowledge? I will be doing the 1974 and back elections in the future and have no idea who the NDP/CCF leaders were. Also, are you sure that Armand Plourde was not leader in 1978? I got that information from the Parti Acadien article. Hope you can help! Thanks. -- Jord 04:01, 26 Nov 04 (UTC)
All my information came from old Daily Gleaner microfilms. I happened to be right next to the UNB library when I came across those pages, so I decided to zip up and get that info. I think Armand Plourde was the *first* leader of the Parti Acadien, but every article I saw from 1978 said it was Lanteigne. I'll go back and look up some 1974 papers. Kirjtc2
Alrighty. I am in Ottawa now and don't have access to any such archives. When I write the earlier election accounts, I'll post a note here to let you know so that you can look up the leaders I don't know... that is, of course, if you're willing. -- Jord
Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
Thanks for uploading the image
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the image and I'll tag it for you. Thanks, Kbh3rd 03:50, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Looking for help on a major wiki project
Hey :) I was wondering if you'd be interesting in helping out with www.Knowmore.org, a corporation search wiki we're trying to get off the ground. We could DEFINATELY use some people that know how to make a wiki community great & the site is almost a blank slate at this point. It's been heavily customized and is designed to help responsible consumers enter any product or company name and immediatly find information about that co. (the main focus of the wiki is corporate & political information in a much more specialized way then wikipedia currently offers) Let me know if you're interested! aim: knowmoreorg or bernard@knowmore.org
Parishes
Hi. I'm well aware of the Parish situation is in New Brunswick. I had a long discussion with User:Jord over them over an MSN discussion. My arguments are, they are recognized by statscan as CSD's, and they are used by Elections Canada to define district boundaries. Lastly, I have also been creating some articles on historic townships of Ontario, which are in the same boat. The fact is, they are historical entities, and are therefore notable, and should be documented. -- Earl Andrew - talk 3 July 2005 06:54 (UTC)

Hey there, I just did a bunch of work (with Haunti and Plasma East) to redo Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Regional Municipality web pages. If you have a minute, can you review and edit the redone pages? PS I found your name as you moved Halifax, West Yorkshire off the Halifax page a few months ago, and I just had a revert war with some poor eurocentric fella in Halifax WL this afternoon... saw your name in the history... ;) WayeMason 20:11, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- I agree, the step today was just the first step. The HRM article is way too long, 36K. It is still really Halifax-centric. Please post your point on the HRM discusion page so its not 'all me' doing this... also, what is the process for dealing with the revision issue with the guy who changed the Halifax page to the disambig or the Halifax WY page? Is there an admin proceedure to deal with this?WayeMason 22:50, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

- Thank you for participating in the WikiProject on Electoral districts in Canada. As you know there will be an election soon. So this may be the best time for the Canadian Wikipedia community to band together and write these articles on current federal electoral districts. Based on your comments, and the comments of others, I have put together a prototype layout at the above link. The prototype is not a final proposal. It is just a place to start from, where we can discuss and experiment. Please review it, comment but keep an open mind, and help form a concensus. --maclean25 01:05, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Sources for Saint John (electoral district)
Hello, some time ago you added a fair bit of content to Saint John (electoral district). As you may be aware, we are currently trying to improve Wikipedia's verifiability and reliability by making sure articles cite the sources used to create them. Do you remember what websites, books, or other sources you used to add content to Saint John (electoral district)? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? See WP:CITET for some quick templates to use for citing sources. Thanks! --best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 21:18, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Miramichi
Kirjtc2, regarding Miramichi (electoral district) and Northumberland—Miramichi, the Library of Parliament website, which is the source for everything that I've been doing on riding articles, says, in its Northumberland—Miramichi article that "The electoral district was abolished in 1987." I know that Miramichi riding covers most of the same area, but I've been going by what the Library of Parliament website says since I don't have any other sources. I don't know how they determine when a riding is abolished and when its name is changed, but I suspect that if the redistribution commission changes a riding's boundaries and its name as part of a general redistribution, the former riding is considered to be abolished. Otherwise, it's a name change. Do you have another source that says that it was just a name change? Thanks and regards, Ground Zero | t 13:57, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- I see that there is the same issue for Westmorland—Kent (see here) and Beauséjour (electoral district). Ground Zero | t 14:00, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Radio stations in Ontario
What exactly do you suppose the difference between "Sudbury" and Greater Sudbury to be? Sudbury is Greater Sudbury; there's no difference between the two. Bearcat 06:36, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Coniston, Capreol, Hanmer, Chelmsford, Lively, Gatchell, New Sudbury "and wherever else" are all communities within a single city, which is called Greater Sudbury. There is no community called "Sudbury" that is in any way separate from that city; Sudbury is Greater Sudbury. The CRTC terminology having not caught up to political reality isn't particularly relevant. Wikipedia's responsibility is to be accurate, not to reflect common misunderstandings. Bearcat 07:12, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- And for the record, all of the Ontario stations are listed under the legal name of their municipality: Greenstone, West Nipissing, Chatham-Kent, Temiskaming Shores, Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, etc. (The only one I didn't correct at the time (and only because I wasn't thinking) was Quinte West instead of Trenton. It's going to be under Quinte West in about fifteen seconds.) What's done on the Nova Scotia list frankly isn't my concern; the Ontario list uses the legal names of the municipalities, and will continue to do so. Bearcat 07:22, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, and all of the things you named belong to and serve the whole city of Greater Sudbury. The fact that the word Greater isn't always used doesn't make "Sudbury" and "Greater Sudbury" two different things. Chelmsford doesn't have its own separate civic planning department, for example; its civic planning is done by Planning Sudbury. It's not about common usage, it's about legal status. Again, Wikipedia's responsibility is to be accurate, not to blindly reflect common misunderstandings. Bearcat 07:47, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Lists of TV stations in the United States by channel number
I saw you edited Channel 2, Channel 3, etc. to write lists of TV stations in the United States. Nice clean up on the Fredericton article. I've browsed it a times before. I always thought it read a little like a 'soap opera' rather than an information page. It reads a little better now without the 'drama' it seemed to have before. Take Care! Mr Pyles 01:30, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Request for edit summary
Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 21% for major edits and 33% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 03:00, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

How is putting St. Louis, Missouri at the top of the list of places POV? I point to Austin, Portland, Hamilton, Columbus, Salem, Buffalo, Green Bay, Lexington and Rochester, all of which have the one (or two) largest or most common city/ies with that name at either the top of the page or top of the list of places. How is St. Louis any different? Kirjtc2 15:04, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- By placing it at the top you are ascribing it a greater (arbitrary) importance than any other reference. There is no reason to assume that everyone (or most people for that matter) is looking for St. Louis MO. And people looking for it will have no trouble finding it under the U.S. heading. I therefore also disagree with the other examples you cite - so now I have to correct/adjust them too ;-). However, in some (like Portland and Hamilton) there is a brief introductory paragraph describing the reason for listing a certain link first. That seems a viable option to me, but not merely repeating links. -- P199 15:40, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Wal-Mart photo
I restored your Wal-Mart photo since "um, no. sorry." wasn't a very good reason for it to be removed in the first place. Cheers, Ouuplas 22:35, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Censored?!?! WTF?!?! First of all, I did not censor your photo. My problem with the photo is that it really has nothing to do with the section that you added it to, and really not with any text in the article as it is. If it accompanied a section that detailed a definite tendency for wal-mart to open stores and then close them, and which was backed up by numerous reliable sources, then it would probably fit, somewhat. But even then, the photo really doesn't directly connect to wal-mart. While to you and other residents of Bathurst, New Brunswick, you probably recognize it as a closed wal-mart, but to someone living in southern california, washington state/british columbia, or even Puerto Rico, it could be any large bix box store that closed down -- there's nothing directly in the photo indicating that it's a closed wal-mart. That is why I don't think it should be in the article. Though I do apologize for slamming the photo as 'poor quality',... I guess that's a bit subjective. Dr. Cash 00:30, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Inclusionism
I loved the "rumination" about Inclusionism on your User page. You echoes my thoughts exactly. What burns me is when the DELETISTS remove exiting small articles of minor importance. If it has already been written, why not keep it?
I often come across something outside of Wikipedia - something I've read, something I see on TV, etc. Let's assume that it interests me and I'd like to find out more.
Wikipedia is my primary source for this type of information. I go to Wikipedia and enter (the person's name... the object name... whatever...) and Wikipedia says that the article doesn't exist...
IT THEN ENCOURAGES YOU TO EITHER WRITE OR REQUEST THE ARTICLE. If someone takes the time at that point to write the article, and it isn't harmful or wrong, there is no reason to nominate it for deletion.
Worse still, if I REQUEST the article and some eager editor who monitors the request list chooses to write it - and THEN somebody deletes it - that's a real kick in the teeth to the eager editor.
I'd like to rope you in the next time there is an egregious delete to vote on. Take a peek at this one (closed) for example: The Interweb medley delete discussion
Thanks! --AStanhope 03:12, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
