Umbergaon (Umargam) is a census town in Valsad district in the Indian state of Gujarat.

In 2012, the Government of Gujarat, announced that tourism-related infrastructure will be developed at Umbergaon, and other towns.^[2] An irrigation canal from Ambaji to Umbergaon at a cost of ₹500crore has also been proposed by the State Government.^[3] Some 20% of the population are fishermen and 20% industrialists. It is 33 km away from Vapi.

Demographics

As of 2011^[update] India census,^[4] Umbergaon had a population of 1,21,648. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Umbergaon has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 62%. In Umbergaon, 14% of the population is under six years of age. The people speak different languages including Gujarati the official state language but vast population are migrated from different states so Hindi , Marathi , Marwadi etc. are also spoken by many people. People from different states of India like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, live in peace & harmony here.

Umbergaon Is covered with green mountains though enjoys a uniform and cool climate throughout the year.In summers the maximum temperature reaches 35 °C and the minimum temperature is 25 °C. and In Winter breezes the climate with cold wind and fog covers the area. Monsoons prevail from mid June to September, when it rains quite heavily. The sea and mountains make the area cool

To the south and south east it has a border with the Palghar district (Tehsil of Talasari & Dahanu) of the State of Maharashtra.

Umbergaon is home to many Spices industries that include two top spices brand of the country i.e. Badshah Masala & Everest Masala and other top industries like Plastic industries i.e Kusum Packaging and RP Plastomers Pvt Ltd. Indigo Metalloys (P) Ltd is a leading manufacturer of Copper, Brass & Cupro Nickel Pipes, Springs and Tubes. Prakash Steelage Limited is manufacturer of stainless steel pipes and tubes. There are many other factories and textile mills in Umbergaon. Abhishri Packing pvt. Ltd. this industry made Luggage of Samsonite or American Tourister.

Also few different products manufacturers are emerging in this area like Met-lok valves and fittings', which manufactures Tube & Pipe fittings, Instrument Manifold valves and Accessories in Stainless steel, Hastelloy, Duplexs a very huge export market in Gulf region for Oil & Petroleum refineries.

Umargaon has so many other industries Like Hindustan Pencils, R.R. Pencils, Mahavir Tube Industries , and one of the India's biggest cable industries i.e. Apar Industries Ltd, (A corporate Group engaged in manufacturing of Cables, Conductor and Oil and many more. Providing work to local people and people in neighbor hood area. Mr. Rajeev S Thatte, an entrepreneur and a journalist from Maharashtra, had his childhood over here in the year 1959-60. The Harish Gandhi Group was the first company to set up a factory in Umbergaon in the 1966.
