Now he claims himself as new Head of the House under 1997 agreement. And some German newspaper referred him as new Head of the House (or rival claimant of Prince Albert).

He is, properly speaking, the pretender to the Portuguese throne as the heir, by agnatic-cognatic (male-preference) primogeniture, of Maria II. Duarte Pio's claim to the Portuguese throne is predicated upon a Miguelist interpretation where Pedro IV (and I of Brazil) and Maria II were not truly the lawful monarchs of Portugal. His mother, Princess Anna of Saxony, is the oldest daughter of Friedrich Christian, Margrave of Meissen, with issue, and none of Friedrich Christian's sons have surviving issue. Friedrich Christian became rightful King of Portugal after his older brother George, Crown Prince of Saxony, died, or perhaps when he renounced royal claims to the Crown of Saxony to become a Jesuit(his failure to mention Portugal is likely because of lack of knowledge; he probably would have renounced the claim if he knew.) Georg became rightful King of Portugal upon Manuel II's death as the most senior heir of Maria II by male-preference primogeniture. Before him, their father Friedrich Augustus III of Saxony was the oldest son of Infanta Maria Anna of Portugal, the eldest daughter of Maria II. By this time, all of Maria II's male line heirs had died, and George, Jesuit priest and former Crown Prince of Saxony, would have inherited the Portuguese Crown. Your response is not relevant to the question asked. The Albertian Saxons were the heir generals of Maria II of Portugal but they are barred from the throne because none of them have Portuguese citizenship and are considered foreigners; after the lesson of the Iberian Union and what allowing a Spanish king to succeed in Portugal does, Portugal's succession laws specifically forbade accession of foreigners.--The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 03:51, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved both Alexander and Albert to the title of Margrave. I don't know how to go about reediting their introduction paragraph or some of the information to make it clear that there are two conflicting claims; if anyone could, please do so. Also Template:Saxon Royal Family should be updated to reflect two conflicting claims like Italy and Russia. TITLE

The Title of Margrave of Meissen is disputed by his second cousin, Rudiger. He should be in Wikipedia: Alexander, Prince of Saxe-Gessaphe; Prince Alexander of Saxe-Gessaphe or Alexander von Saxe-Gessaphe.
