Realme is a Shenzhen-based Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Realme is a technology brand that specializes in providing high quality smartphones. The brand was officially established on May 4th, 2018, which is National Youth Day in China, by Sky Li together with several other young people in the smartphone industry across countries.[2][3]

History

"Realme" first appeared in China in 2010 as "OPPO Real".[4] It was a sub-brand of OPPO Electronics Corporation until its separation in 2018, when it became an independent company.[5][6]

On July 30, 2018, former vice president of OPPO and head of OPPO's overseas business department, Bingzhong Li (Sky Li), announced on Weibo his official resignation from OPPO his start at Realme as an independent brand. He stated that the Realme brand is focused on providing mobile phones that integrate strong performance and stylish design.[7][8]

Market

Realme launched its first product, Realme 1, in India in May 2018. The Indian market was the first step for Realme. As Realme is targeting the global market, it will expand its reach geographically, with potential target markets including Southeast Asia,[9] starting in Indonesia as its Southeast Asia debut.[10]

Realme 1

Realme's first smartphone product, Realme 1, launched in India in May 2018. This model uses an 18:9 display with 6.0-inch FHD+ resolution and is equipped with a MTK Helio P60 chipset, a 13 megapixel rear camera, an 8 megapixel front camera for selfies, and a built-in 3410 mAh battery.[11] Realme 1 was available in three storage configurations initially: with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage for Rs8,990 ($135),4GB of ram and 64GB of storage for Rs10,990 ($152),and a version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for Rs13,990 ($205). Realme 1 sold more than 400,000 units in the first 30 days on Amazon India exclusively. [12]

Realme 2

Realme 2 was unveiled on September 4, 2018. The Realme 2 comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Based on ColorOS 5.1 inspired by Android 8.1 Oreo, the phone is backed by a 4230mAh battery and runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor. Realme 2 features a diamond-cut back glass design, which retains the phone's all-glass body. Also, this phone comes with three unlock modes: Smart Lock, Face Unlock and a fingerprint sensor on the back.[13]The 3GB/32GB model will be available for ₹9,990 ($128), while the 4GB/64GB model is priced at ₹10,990 ($157). Realme 2 was sold 200,000 units in 5 minutes on Flipkart exclusively. [14]

The Realme 2 Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 1.8GHz octa-core processor with Adreno 512 GPU and it comes with 8GB of RAM. The phone packs 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Realme 2 Pro packs a 16-megapixel (f/1.7) + 2-megapixel (f/2.4) primary camera on the rear and a 16-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Realme 2 Pro is powered by a 3500mAh non removable battery. It measures 156.70 x 74.00 x 8.50 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 174.00 grams. Realme 2 Pro runs on Android Oreo 8.1 based Color OS 5.1.

The Realme 2 Pro is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, Micro-USB, Active 4G on both SIM cards, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Face unlock, Fingerprint sensor, Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope. [15]

Realme C1

Realme launched Realme C1 after launching Realme 2 Pro. Realme C1 powered by Snapdragon Octa-Core 450 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. The Realme C1 comes with 6.2-inch HD+ 1520 X 720 pixel resolution aspect ratio 19:9, screen to body ratio is 88.8 per cent.

The C1 has dual rear cameras 13MP + 2MP f/2.2 and for front side a 5MP f2.2 AI camera for selfie. It has a massive 4230mAh battery and 2GB RAM 16GB storage. The Realme C1 runs on ColorOS 5.1 on Android 8.1 Oreo. It doesn't have any fingerprint sensor. [16]
