Nitin Passi

Further update: Hi GSS, removed Proposed for Deletion tag, and edited to answer concerns about number of references. Added The Times, The Telegraph, The Mirror, The Financial Times, amongst others. Very interested to have a discussion about where the line lies on notability, but I think Passi falls on the side of notability -- if anything because he appears notable enough for The Sunday Times, Drapers, etc, to publish personal reporting. ScepticalChymist (talk) 13:12, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GSS, I have reverted Nitin Passi, and put up a flag for notability to encourage discussion. Argument for notability is his contributions / profile within the UK fashion industry. Feel merit is accorded from the third guideline from WO:BIO, ie, "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field." Given that he founded -- and continues to run -- probably the fast growing fashion company in the UK, I think it is didficult not to qualify on that criteria. He also have a substantial media presence. Added a notability tag to encourage debate / discussion. ScepticalChymist (talk) 11:40, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Iyer Project

Hi GSS, I see that you have moved the page The Iyer Project into the draft section. I have submitted it for review and will wait for it. While you are right that I am involved with the band, however, I have specifically tried to keep the language neutral. The sources mentioned are authentic and credible. Let me know your views and let me know how it can be improved. Cheers (Moulisekaran (talk) 04:48, 5 February 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Deleterion of David Demola

Dear Vinay Gowda,

The subject is notable and featured on Christian networks. He has been accredited by Creflo Dollar and preaches to the 38th largest megachurch in the country as of 2017. Please do not mess with articles on prominent Christian leaders. May I have the original work for self-review and I will redo this article with sources for credibility? This will be redone neutrally and in an encyclopedic way.
Yours truly, John1427 (talk) 17:08 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Deletion Discussion : Anil K Reji

Hey

The page Anil K Reji has been nominated for deletion. Kindly let me know what can be done to prevent the deletion.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anil_K_Reji

Valid sources and news articles have been included as references in the article. But it still has been nominated for deletion. Kindly assist me through the walkthrough process of preventing the deletion.

Thanks.

Repeated Reverting on article on "Samiksha Jaiswal".

Respected Sir/Madam,

Please tell why are you repeatedly reverting the article on Samiksha Jaiswal to #Redirect Zindagi Ki Mehek?

@Helpful14: As Barkeep49 mentioned in the edit summary that the subject not yet demonstrated to be notable per WP:NACTOR so please do not revert as it's WP:TOOSOON for this actress to have a separate article. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em)

Edits made in Ram Awana Page

hi, Thank you for your reply. Whatever changes I made, have video references on youtube or some other sites. Can I not add such references? as Ram Awana is an actor internet is providing only video references. Please suggest what can I do. User:Gazal288 (talk) Thank you, Gazal288

Hey. Thanks for your good work. I did have Amit Sharma's page already reviewed, but I will send it through AfC anyway. Good to know that paid edits should always go through AfC, rather than directly published. I'll keep that in mind for the future. MrMarkBGregory (talk) 09:08, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NPR Newsletter No.16 15 December 2018

Hello GSS,

Reviewer of the Year

This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.

Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.

See also the list of top 100 reviewers.

Less good news, and an appeal for some help

The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.

Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019

At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.

Training video

Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.

Query

I findout that you tagged not reliable sources on Draft: Prakash Neupane. Could you remove non reliable sources & accept it? Azkord (talk) 14:24, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know well about those english sources you which you removed but bigul tv is independent registered national media of Nepal, have a look on it. Azkord (talk) 14:32, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Azkord: The website has no about us page, no information as to who is running the website and no indication as to where it's content come from. As such, it is not a reliable source. GSS (talk|c|em) 14:37, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you did not checked footer of the news site. They've provided everything like other Nepali sources (ex. Registration no & also they have indiacted that it runs through Bigul News Media Pvt.Ltd Nepal). Have a look on it. Azkord (talk) 14:44, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Etajakhabar source which you removed has also provided registration number and has indicated where it runs through, have a look on that too and if its acceptable for now than accept it. Azkord (talk) 14:54, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't show anything and no Etajakhabar is not a reliable source. Anyone can create a website and register their business but it has nothing to do with reliability. Please see WP:RS for more. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:00, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As per alexa Bigulnews tv is in top 10 rank of Nepal [1] any individual can't create website and make it into top 10. If you want screenshot about us and other sources of bigulnews which you asked i can provide i'm clearly seeing that things on footer of bigulnews.tv Azkord (talk) 15:08, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
you may ask any other Nepali experienced editor about that things of bigulnews i can agree with you on etajakhabar but i can't agree on bigulnews cause it's independent national media of Nepal. Azkord (talk) 15:11, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is what I see at the end of the page Copyrigh Bigul Media Pvt. Ltd 2018 | All Rights Reserved nothing else and I asked you to see WP:RS not Alexa. We don't decide reliability based on the registration number of Alexa rank the particular website in question must satisfy RS criteria. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:16, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Per your request i see RS criteria and i think website satisfy rs criteria. might be there is some issue with your laptop or else check once on the footer of the website from the phone. They've cleaely provided us page, information and the one who is running the news site. Azkord (talk) 15:28, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Found it and have restored the sources but it's an interview so, it's not really sufficient for establishing notability. GSS (talk|c|em) 16:45, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But it's not an full interview. I think now article can be moved to mainspace cause it satisfy WP:MUSICBIO categories. Azkord (talk) 16:59, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sat Sri Akal GSS, I found that you were harassed by this open proxy before and it was trying the same with me. I got it blocked here. Wrongful deletion.

PharmaSeq

Hi GSS, you declined the creation of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:PharmaSeq for lack of notability. I believe that some of the references that were included in the draft meet the WP:COMPANY requirements, and would like to know what needs to be changed to get this article published.

These are the references which I think meet the requirements:
- Editorial in Science Magazine: Service RF (2000) Chemists Unveil Molecular Wizardry in San Francisco, Science 288:5465, 425-427
- https://www.rfidjournal.com/articles/view?12034/3

The other references I would agree fail to meet one or more of the requirements. Do they need to be removed?

Jromagn (talk) 21:56, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear GSS I have searched news regarding Mr. Goswami and find news at https://hindi.news18.com/news/madhya-pradesh/chhatarpur-audio-book-on-premchand-stories-add-in-apple-store-1207857.html and https://www.patrika.com/chhatarpur-news/munshi-premchands-120-stories-audio-book-on-apple-app-store-hindi-news-1-2139449/

These news are in Hindi Language so might be english people are unable to recognise as news.

When I searched for Sameer Goswami I found many links which indicate his work towards storytelling. I searched his mobile number on his blog and called him and reveal more information about him.

I thought this was enough for creating a page of Sameer Goswami. Gradually the information shall be added as soon as it gets spread on net.

I asked him why he is not in newspaper he said that his news get published in newspaper which are not online that is why his work is, as news, not available on net.

This was my opinion to keep the article undeleted.

Rest I leave to your wisdom and your fine sense of judgment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sailendrasing (talkcontribs) 02:44, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why my three notable articles are drafted?

See My three articles are drafted?

a) Ajay Shukla - He is chief editor (Multimedia) of ITV Network. b) Why India News Haryana is drafted (It is the only regional channel) that is listed among national news channels. c) EverlyWell - It is the company that is being initiated by world champion and having featured on ABC show, even Forbes has featured the agency? --Neerajmadhuria72014 (talk) 05:39, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Neerajmadhuria72014: Ajay Shukla has no independent notability and the notability of EverlyWell is questionable. You also appear to have a conflict of interest which you need to disclose. Please see WP:PAID and WP:COI for more. GSS (talk|c|em) 05:46, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am not having connected or paid with both of them. I am making my Wikipedia profile strong. I want to start a project on Wikipedia associated for Journalists and chief editors across India. See it's also important for a senior journalists, TV show host etc.
@talk what area of conflict? I am from Health Industry and see I have revealed my identity. I am pharmacist and dietitian and EverlyWell is notable in health Industry after being listed by Forbes. And Ajay Shukla is TV host and chief editor. He is dominating TV host who is known for asking straight questions from politicians and cabinet Ministers. I don't know what extra notability you want? Please explain and teach me how to create Wikipedia project.
@Neerajmadhuria72014: As I said earlier Ajay Shukla is not independently notable and the Forbes piece for EverlyWell is from a contributor, which would not normally be considered independent or reliable as per WP:RSP. Also, the images you uploaded lacks permission evidence so, please follow the instruction that I posted on your talk page GSS (talk|c|em) 16:07, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Priyanka Jawalkar

Hi there, can you explain the process you followed for the deletion of Priyanka Jawalkar and redirect to Taxiwaala? From memory, I objected to a PROD and removed the PROD tag. You have subsequently deleted the article. As I understand the PROD process, if an editor objects to a PROD but another editor still supports deletion, then the next step is to list the article as AfD. You haven't done this, you have deleted the article. Can you show me the policy which you are following? TIA. MurielMary (talk) 09:12, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@MurielMary: Please see WP:ATD. The subject clearly fails WP:NACTOR. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 09:15, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that reference. As per the policy, "content issues should be discussed at the relevant talk page". Are you able to restore the article on Jawalkar so that issues can be discussed, thanks. MurielMary (talk) 09:45, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry MurielMary but, if you believe that the subject meets the relevant notability criteria (WP:NACTOR) and should have a stand-alone article you can start a discussion at the article talk page per WP:ATD-R but before that please see the similar case such as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Janhvi Kapoor. Cheers, GSS (talk|c|em) 10:30, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GSS I see you redirected the page I just created. I think this individual passes notability and it is not inherited. Can you at least put it up for deletion and we can discuss among more users? I also created a talk page to discuss why this individual is notable.Nolaquinn (talk) 14:45, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Nolaquinn: I can move it to draftspace instead if you want to work on it. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 14:49, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GSS: I can than submit it for approval correct? I believe it passes notability and that notability is not inherited so it should be a live page. If that is the correct procedure please do that. There are far less notable sports executives with wikipedia pages I believe the problem is this page was not properly created in the first place. Nolaquinn (talk) 14:58, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just for completeness, I didn't move Ajay Shukla into article space. I think that there may be undisclosed paid editing, but that is only my opinion. I have listed the former article (which you made into a redirect) and a few others at COIN. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:28, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Robert McClenon, that was the main reason for moving these articles into draftspace and you might be interested to see this post that Shukla posted (two days after the page was created) on their Facebook. The subject is not independently notable and I doubt the author will definitely remove the redirect so is it possible to protect it? GSS (talk|c|em) 03:47, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. If they revert the redirection, it goes to AFD. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:29, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please add paid editing evidence to the talk page of CarsGuide per site best practices, or else you'll not only be unfairly smearing all the editors who have worked on the article, but you will discourage future editing as well. Cheers. TechnoTalk (talk) 18:06, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TechnoTalk: there is a disclosure at Talk:CarsGuide, made by a paid editor.--SamHolt6 (talk) 20:56, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SamHolt6:Thanks for letting me know. The disclosure wasn't there when I first visited the talk page. If the paid editor hasn't made the necessary disclosure, the tagger should put info on the talk page to substantiate the tag, and start the related discussion mentioned in the tag text. If I see an article tagged for COI or paid editing and can't tell who the offending editor is, I usually delete the tag. Otherwise, editing the article becomes anathema. Declined speedy deletion nomination of Jennifer Tolhurst

Hello GSS. I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of Jennifer Tolhurst as an unambiguous copyright infringement under CSD G12. That criterion did not apply because the text is licensed under the UK Open Government License v.3.0. Please don't let this discourage you. Speedy deletion work is so important and getting rid of copyvios is in my view the most important part of that work. Just try to glance at the bottom of the source page to see if the content might actually bear a suitable free license. It won't 99% of the time of course. Pages by Paid Editors, and Other Troublesome Pages

Please do not draftify a page more than once, even if it is undersourced or paid editing or otherwise should not be in article space. Draftifying a page more than once is move-warring, and is just as disruptive as the move to article space more than once by the proponent is. Please take such pages to Articles for Deletion instead. As you have seen, repeated draftification or other move-warring not only divides the Wikipedia community but divides the community of honest editors who oppose paid editing. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:59, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and noted. I can understand the situation but it sounds like we are giving more wings to paid editors by allowing them to move their article back to mainspace and then stay in peace. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:39, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
User:GSS - I understand your concern, but if a paid editor is willing to promote a paid article more than once, is there any reason to think that demoting (draftifying) it more than once will finalize its status? If you demote an article a second time, then please nominate it for deletion from draft space, or nominate it for deletion from article space when it is promoted a second or third time. Move-warring is disruptive, and it doesn't result in a win. Please. Don't just move-war. We "give more wings" to them just as much by sinking to their level and move-warring as we would by leaving their spam in article space. Getting rid of spam is one of the reasons why we have XFD. Paid editing - Those Who Inspire Ltd.

Hello GSS. This is the reply to your message left on my talk page.

Kindly allow me to share with you that I am not paid by anyone to create the small article for Those Who Inspire. As explained to Victor as well, I am a young person who has been following Those Who Inspire for years. Thanks to them I found some of the most valuable mentors I could ever have. I think this entry on wiki is just a means to share with more people the work done by this organisation. Therefore, I do not understand why it is considered as promotional... for example, as this is the first time I am creating an article from scratch, I checked the entry of Ted Talks... why is the entry of Those Who Inspire so different and promotional from the one of Ted Talk?

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicoleta1992 (talkcontribs) 08:43, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Nicoleta1992: well an advertisement on upwork.com seems enough to confirm paid editing and you were clearly promoting the subject here on Wikipedia. GSS (talk|c|em) 09:13, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@GSS: I have no idea what is upwork.com, I have never used this plaltform. In what sense I was promoting the subject on Wikipedia if you could be more specific please? Nicoleta1992 (talk) 12:11, 21 January 2019 (CET)

Artcontrarian name

Thank you for leaving a note about my username in possible conflict because it appears to represent a website - just googled it and found a blogger in Seattle... I'm in Washington, DC (the other Washington :-), but I get your point and I don't want to erroneously be associated with whoever that gent in Seattle is, so will ask for a name change request and be safe ---- Appreciate suggestion!

Hi GSS, I am not being directly or indirectly compensated for my edits. So far I have only contributed 2 entries, both on subjects of particular interest to me. In the case of the digital marketing canvas one (still in draft category) I have received other comments concerning style, references and context so I will be making further edits. Anyway, I thank you for pointing out wikipedia policies on the matter. Coquemp (talk) 23:25, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Coquemp: while the assumption of good faith is a key policy on Wikipedia, credible evidence seems to contradict your statement. Deletion of Vijay Kalvani

Hello, respected Sir/Ma'am

Mr. Vijay Kalvani has been named on Forbes celebrity list 2015 , he has been part of several television shows and also a couple of films.

I think Forbes is a pretty good reliable source.

Please let me know your take on that.

Thank you very much. Mortalrahu (talk) 17:13, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not according to the citation given. There's a Vijay Kalwani (notice the different spelling) listed as nominated, but anyone can be nominated. Arguably, a person who was one of the 100 chosen might be notable (but, probably that alone wouldn't be enough), but just nominated? No. I could be nominated and I don't even live in India, nor am I Indian or a celebrity. --Yamla (talk) 17:44, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Changes on Dubai Multi Commodities Centre

Hi GSS,

I noted that you have reverted my edits on Dubai Multi Commodities Centre. I have removed promotional content from the page and have disclosed the paid contribution on the talk page of the article. Request you to please put my edits back on the page. Thanks.

DMCC page edits

Hi GSS,

thanks for your comments on the DMCC page. I work with DMCC and they have an issue with their wiki page since November as they someone was asked to go in and update old information and inadvertently added copy that was then tagged as promo/advertising content.

Please can you advise what needs to be done to remove the tags while also having the latest information on the page?

I've been through and added the relevant citations, I've removed the promo copy and cleaned up to comply with policies.

FYI edits made by 94.200.47.110 are also mine.

Would it be possible to revert to this version and I can then suggest some edits? - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dubai_Multi_Commodities_Centre&oldid=863194937 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phoenixfrom1973 (talkcontribs) 07:00, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks.

The tags must stay until it meets the standard of WP:NPOV and WP:V. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:14, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the copy to align from NPOV and all relevant citations are included. If you feel that the text is still not NPOV compliant and further citations are needed, then can you please let me know which text and where citations are requirted and I will propose edits accordingly.

User:27.106.115.131 has also made edits aligned with NPOV, but you rolled those back. Paid contribution was disclosed as part of the edits.

First of all, COI and paid editors are not allowed to edit affected articles directly, but they can propose changes on article talk pages instead. The article reads like a corporate profile than an encyclopedia entry and the source you added here wasn't reliable. The 3rd, 4th and 5th section lacks inline citations.

GSS (talk|c|em) 07:31, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Have added citations as requested and removed promotional sounding copy as directed. Have proposed these changes on the article talk page as you instructed. Please advise if any additional issues.

Many thanks. Robert

@Phoenixfrom1973: I know I personally learn best by example, so I tried to make some changes as an example edit. I'm not willing to spend more time sprucing up the article because I have no interest in the subject. However, I do have an interest in the quality of this encyclopedia. GSS is right to warn you about COI and paid editing; it's a thorny subject on a website that purportedly aggregates notable content from a neutral standpoint backed by reliable, third-party sources (again, as GSS pointed out earlier, see WP:NPOV and WP:V). Can you check the tags at Novita article?

Hi there! You added some warnings at Novita_(company) in October. Can you check now if they can be removed? Jjanhone (talk) 18:21, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ramvir_(singer) and Tom Coleman (fitness model)

Hi GSS, first of all thank you for reviewing the articles I recently submitted. Unfortunately both of the articles I submitted has been moved to draft space. However I did not lose hope and will try to make the articles better and try to move it to main space. I would really appreciate if you please put some light on how I should improve these articles before I submit it to AFC. Thank you in advance Sumitpatelster (talk) 18:01, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As per Wikipedia's 'golden rule' the subject of an article needs multiple independent, reliable sources that talk about the subject in-depth. So you need to provide some reliable sources that are independent of the subject and submit it for a review once you are done. Please don't move it back to mainspace yourself until you get a second opinion as to whether it is ready for article space. GSS (talk|c|em) 02:45, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you have asked me to add more references to the articles. I added a lot of references to Tom Coleman's page, still it has been decline by you without leaving any comment? Did you see those references? What else I can add or remove? Could you please suggest. Waiting for your reply. Sumitpatelster (talk) 04:31, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:GSS, I can see that you have reverted edits. Can you tell me how to solve UDP issue on this page or what else it still left to clean this page? 157.47.139.29 (talk) 08:35, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
