Since 2006, The Great Immigrant award has been given by the Carnegie Corporation of New York to a diverse selection of American immigrants who have strengthened America's economy, invigorated democracy, or enhanced communities and culture. [1] This award honors Andrew Carnegie's legacy who was a Scottish immigrant and philanthropist that overcame adversity and had a profound impact on American culture.[2]
