Kawartha Credit Union article declined

Hi, I am confused and disappointed that you have declined to have this article. There are many referenced and verified sources in it. I do not believe it reads like an advertisement. It is factual, concise and sourced. This is a very large credit union that had an article on wikipedia for well over a decade before it was deleted. Without any specific feedback I can't change it.

I'm not sure I understand the refusal here. I have many cited sources, including from books, and reputable sources. Does someone over at wikipedia who has something against the guy? Because this is what it's looking like at this point. I've seen hundreds of other approved posts with less sources than this article. So whats the vendetta? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.53.205.253 (talk) 16:05, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Draft:Kanhaiya_Lal_Kapoor

JSTOR,Dawn, and Firstpost and Rekhta and his reference in Google books are individual sources. He does not has his own website. May i know which Individual source you are referring too  ? . If its Rekhta its Urdu's website for all Urdu poets ( kanhaiyalal kapoor is one of them ). Need clarification.

Apologies to bug you again, but just wanted to check, does it look okay now ? or should i remove external links section too ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumeetworld (talkcontribs) 15:33, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reviewing the draft. I have removed the FB and Pintrest links. Also cut down on External links and moved it to Further reading. Let me know at your convenience if it looks okay now. I can remove Further Reading section as well if its not required. Looking forward for your review. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Kanhaiya_Lal_Kapoor — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumeetworld (talkcontribs) 15:34, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Rekhta website is not independent, it is the website that publishes his ebooks, we need in-depth independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 16:26, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, it publishes books of all Urdu authors not specific to him. However, even if we dont consider Rekhta, arent articles or dawnn, Jstor , Firstpost and references to Google books of Literature okay ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumeetworld (talkcontribs) 17:06, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emmanuel Cooper edit

Hi there Theroadislong,

My apologies I did not realise that my edit was inappropriate. This was my first attempt in contributing to this amazing resource.

My intention was that the book reference would be useful resource and be of value to corroborate other content. My inexperience also resulted in the positioning of the link on the page near top whereas I had thought i was adding to the reference section below.

A question of more haste less speed I guess.

Again my apologies,

Kind regards

Perhaps you could add the content and then add back the source, you might find this helpful WP:REFB. Theroadislong (talk) 18:14, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reviewing the article. Could you please let me know what modifications should I make to make it acceptable? Should I use different citations independent from Walton's website?

Yes three of your five sources are to their own website which doesn't help with notability, see WP:CORP for what is required. Theroadislong (talk) 17:46, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible for you to send me a "simple step by step" procedure on how to insert an external link to an other (professional, relevant, serious,...) website which wouldn't be in-line ? I really don't understand what I am reading on Wiki.

help

Hi my name is Madison I recently made an article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Brice_Gelot) regarding an artist it was rejected for the reason : Not clear how he would pass WP:ARTIST.

but as you mention

Creative professionals 4. The person's work (or works) has: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) won significant critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums

the artist is represented by notable galleries as saatchi, artsper and artsy

which additional information should I ask him or should I add ?

Regards

They would not be considered notable galleries they are merely online galleries. You should also declare your conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 08:04, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your answer. The link to images on commons is really relevant in this case and illustrates excatly what I am writting. Therefore would it be possible to leave these couples of links

Many thanks Regards Patrick — Preceding unsigned comment added by PatmanSA1 (talkcontribs) 08:21, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you think they are relevant then you should use the actual images and not the links. Theroadislong (talk) 08:31, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I more or less figured I need more references and I am working on that. I have a different question that I cannot seem to get any help with. There are 2 photos and one image for this article but they are not shown. I received a message saying that they violate copyrights. Well, I took the two photos myself and the other is a PC screen shot of a CAD drawing that I made myself. I do not understand how these are copyright infringements. AgensGraph

Thanks for reviewing my draft page and giving feedback. I've updated it now. I'm interested in graph databases and want to add pages for each of those that I consider broadly used and sufficiently notable to be here on Wikipedia (AgensGraph, TigerGraph, GRAKN.AI etc). Of those, I think AgensGraph is the most notable and have tried to reflect that, but as they are a Korean company, most of the writeup about them isn't in English. I've made some fixes, please could you re-review at your convenience? --Croesyceiliog (talk) 12:48, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I did have a look to the WP:ARTIST, and at the section "Creative professionals" :

4.The person's work (or works) has: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) won significant critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums

the artist Brice Gelot (d) is represented by notable galleries as (Saatchi Los Angeles // Artsper Paris // Artsy) also (b) Brice Gelot recently had an interview for an art magazine and will be present for an exhibition in Miami for Art Basel the biggest international art fair for famous artist or new emerging artist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Basel)

Madison.y (talk) 16:20, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Being included in online galleries confers no notability, as far as I know and interviews do not count as independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 16:48, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I did research after your message and those art galleries are only accessible to represented artist / notorious artist / new emerging artist (art dealer / curator or art gallery themselves) : (https://help.artsper.com/hc/en-001/articles/360024354293-I-m-an-artist-Can-I-exhibit-my-work-on-Artsper-)

Artsy is resource for learning about and collecting art by over 100,000 artists around the world. We partner with leading galleries, museums, art fairs, and auction houses in building our online database, which currently includes over 1,000,000 artwork images, including the largest online database of contemporary art. Why magazine interview doesn't count as independent sources ?

Hytale AfC

How come you said it didn't have significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject? It has 10 refs whose timeframes range between Dec'18 and Aug'19. If I created this in mainspace for a different game noone would look twice at it. Can I have a more exact reason the submission was declined?  Nixinova T  C  18:29, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

draft Richard Franklin White rejection on Julie Standell's sandbox

To reviewer Theroadislong,

I don't understand the criteria (italics) that made my page about Rick White rejected:

"This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia."

What cited resources are not acceptable for significant coverage? I did research in his hometown area, and also interviewed him via email. I also received photos and a video of the National Rock Con Fan fest's activities, that demonstrated his participation during the 3 day event.

Does Rick White need to be famous for making recordings or performance appearances that are documented and/or contained in journalist interviews, before a Wikipedia page can be created for him?

Based on what other musician entertainer's Wikipedia pages I have reviewed, prior to making this effort, I thought that my content met the same standards as theirs. The Human Beinz were a musical group that made hit records in the 1960's.

Rick White was a member of that band AFTER that time period, because the band attempted a Revival on 2005. I was told that the original member Ting Markulin authorized & approved him as a legitimate member of the band and as approved lead singer for The Human Beinz, officially. I also previewed The Human Beinz Wikipedia page & found Rick White's name listed as a member, thereby confirming his status.

I wanted to make this page to specifically show his own singing career & the story that led to him joining The Human Beinz.

Please offer some specific suggestions for me, so I can improve this page or decide to abandon it. I appreciate your review & help.

Cordially & respectfully, Julie Dugan aka Julie Standell Julie (talk) 22:07, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jeremiah Asher

I have your message rejecting my brief article on Jeremiah Asher. I gave it another shot, adding some additional references. If it is still unacceptable I hope someone more competent will take up this task as Asher is an important figure in American (and particularly African-American) history and it seems to me that he deserves a Wikipedia entry. Thank you.

Thank you for the brutal truth. I now understand what "citations" really mean. I appreciate the time you took to explain this to me. I am a novice at this kind of thing; but I had some enthusiasm to create this for Rick White and thought it could be a partial legacy for him & his family.

Thanks again.

I disagree with your decision to delete my revised draft of an entry on Steven "Akili" Walker

Friend,

Thanks for reviewing the revised version of my article on Steven "Akili" Walker.

Your main comment was that "discogs and allmusic are not reliable sources" -- which was what the first editor said when s/he rejected it. I accepted that criticism, which is why this revised version doesn't cite discogs a single time. It does, however, cite Billboard magazine frequently, which is a reliable source, as well as the New York Times.

I agree, however, with the broader complaint that the references in the revised version "do not show 'significant' coverage." I submit, though, that this lack of in-depth coverage is an occupational hazard for an audio engineer, whose work occurs very much behind the scenes. For the sake of counter-balance, I noted a number of the prominent artists on whose recordings Akili worked over the course of 30 years, all of whom have Wikipedia articles devoted to them. They include Jimmy Cliff, Humble Pie, Ahmad Jamal, the Mighty Sparrow, LL Cool J, Bootsy Collins, Jimmy Spicer, Lovebug Starski, The Fat Boys, Onyx, Lester Bowie, and the Art Ensemble of Chicago.

This is a roster of Hall of Fame musicians. I hope you'll reconsider your decision to reject this submission.

Illbadler (talk) 20:18, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Illbadler (talk) 20:18, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Illbadler I didn't say it should be deleted? I declined it because it's sources were not sufficient to pass WP:GNG. You appear to have two drafts on the same page too, courtesy link Draft:Steven Walker (sound engineer) Notability is not inherited I'm afraid, Wikipedia requires there to be in-depth coverage of HIM in multiple reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 21:38, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re your most recent comment: I understand that at first you were confused. Then I directed you to the most recent draft of my article on Akili Walker. I wondered if you'd changed your mind about rejecting the article once you saw that I'd replaced all of the citations from discogs.come with citations from Billboard. As best as I can tell, your reply was to inform me that you'd been confused because I'd posted both versions one after the other. But you offered no assessment of the revised version of the article. Sorry, but have I missed something? Illbadler (talk) 20:20, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You need to remove the first draft and make it clear what is to be reviewed. Eleven of the sources are to Allmusic, these confer no notability at all and should be removed, there are large parts which are still unsourced where did the info come from? Theroadislong (talk) 20:27, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Billboard sources are just passing mentions eg. engineered by Walker, Wikipedia requires the coverage to be in-depth and detailed. Theroadislong (talk) 20:36, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Enguage rejection... help?

Hi, Firstly, thanks for getting back so quickly, some of the instructions suggested it may take 8 weeks, or so. And apologies, I'm new to editing Wikipedia pages (as you've probably guessed!) - I'm not even sure if this is the right channel to get back to you?

Is it possible to help me with your comments on my article?

I don't doubt that my writing style might not match the style required in an encyclopedia, this is my first page. Most of my writing is academic, which I guess isn't a suitable style for an encyclopedic entry - I'm not presenting literature reviews, original research etc. I'm hoping to learn!

But, your comment that it is an 'advert' is a little vague, in that it isn't a commercial product. Enguage is open source software. Is /is/ the case that Enguage won the BSC SGAI Machine Intelligence Competition in 2016, which should make it notable, and I've included links to verify this. So, at what point does it become an advert? I certainly haven't used judgemental language/superlatives (e.g. "this is the greatest..." etc), and all claims are verifiable.

In my defence, I have included a COI marker, even though I do not receive any money from Enguage - it's not a 'product', as such.

Is there a 'starting point' where it goes wrong? Should I have started with a shorter article? Or do you not like the whole thing? I've tried to model my page on "Cucumber (Software)", but because my system programs in natural language it's not a run of the mill software program.

One of the problems with Enguage is that it is complex, and in explaining one thing drags a whole load of other things in.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, Martin.

MartinWheatman (talk) 22:27, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

The couple of links to images (downloaded by myself) on Commons, which I used are extremly relevant for the article. Do you mind if I keep them?

Thanks for your comment.

Hi Theroadislong, thank you for the comments on Draft:International Council of Voluntary Agencies. I have attempted to resolve your comment by removing external links in the body of text and by making the language seem more neutral. I do believe that the organisation is notable and important enough to have its article on Wikipedia, and would appreciate any further help getting it approved. MrVertigo (talk) 09:52, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Enguage rejection... help?

I've updated the page - drastically reducing the length. Ironically(?), it has removed more of the non-self references. Removing self-references seems to be worthless, as it sounds as if I'm scuppered in writing about anything that I've done, whether it involves any references at all? I'm going to resubmit, but with a little less hope ;-)

What are my options? Can I request that someone writes a page? Can I submit a stub (I think that what it is called as it nowstands) and hope someone takes up the challenge? If I simply asked one of my colleagues to author a page on Enguage, surely it too would mean that they would have a conflict of interest?

Cheers, martin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Martinwheatman (talkcontribs) 12:08, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ideally you would wait until someone totally uninvolved wrote the article, using secondary, independent published sources only. Wikipedia is not a venue for announcing new things or original research. Theroadislong (talk) 13:38, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Marc Nicholls: Rejected Wiki

Hello!!! I was curious about the rejection of my Wikipedia article. You said it was due to the lack of "notability" in the sources. Artist meets WP:ARTIST

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Michelle_Lisa_Herman,_Artist

  1. The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work.
  • Artist worked on permanent installation "The Indigo Room" by Eduoard Duval-Carrie as a collaborator [1]
  1. ...work must have been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series) or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.
  • Artist has had work critically reviewed by The Washington Post 4 times and was reviewed by the national art news outlet Hyperallergic
  1. been a substantial part of a significant exhibition
  • Herman was invited to be part of the Washington Project for the Arts 40th Anniversary Exhibition which gained national coverage [2]
Notability is not inherited and I am not convinced that she passes, but you are free to move it to mainspace and let it take it's chance with any subsequent WP:AFD. Theroadislong (talk) 07:09, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The history section is unsourced and straight out of your marketing department, likewise the products section. When creating an article with a conflict of interest you need to forget everything you know about the subject and just report on what the reliable independent sources say. Samling Institute for Young Artists

Hello and thanks for your message. I think there may be some confusion, as Samling Institute for Young Artists is not a business. It is a not-for-profit charity that supports young musicians and which has been awarded the status of Institute. I have declared my conflict of interest on the draft page, but please let me know if I did this incorrectly, or if I need to add anything anywhere else too. I have also posted on the Wikipedia help page to ask for clarification about where the article is not 'neutral' and why the sources are considered unacceptable. Best wishes, JaneShuttleworth (talk) 13:34, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

JaneShuttleworth Regardless of whether it is a business or not, you still appear to be trying to promote it. For example this "The Samling Artist Programme brings together emerging classical singers and pianists – usually in the final stages of their studies, or the early stages of their careers – with internationally recognised artists, directors, actors and movement and language coaches in a series of week-long, intensive, residential masterclasses. Participants are selected through a combination of recommendation and audition. The coaching is predominantly carried out in private, but the residential week ends with a public masterclass and concert." is entirely unsourced and promotional in nature. If your institute is truly notable in Wikipedia terms, best to wait until someone unconnected writes the article. Theroadislong (talk) 13:57, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Forward Networks

Hello there,

Do you have some suggestions to improve this article? It was rejected for sounding like an advertisement, which I agree is an unacceptable trait in any Wikipedia article. I did do my best to make it sound objective and I cited sources. But if you can give me suggestions on what I must do to improve the article to publishing standards, I will be extremely grateful.

Thank you, and wishing you most wonderful of days, AChakra — Preceding unsigned comment added by AChakra California (talkcontribs) 17:26, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please re-submit I can't actually see any advertising there, sorry! Theroadislong (talk) 17:45, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

to answer the GNG question

Hello,

All the press articles refer to Him directly such as "he Run away boy" press article who has a picture of him and tells his all story and career at sea, "new vice president" press article with picture saying "gough one the oldest families in swansea and mentions record round cape Horn", "60 years ago" press article published 60 years after his death and saying how well known and loved seaman he was, "captain Gough burried" press article with lots of prominent people all mentionned, "for the widows and dependants press article where Gough is mentionned as representant of the pilots for donations during ww1, awarded with war medals, freemason, Etc...., He was globaly one of the most prominent mariner of south wales, cape horner, sea pilot, with a career of more than 50 years...Story linked directly (and proved with the boats he served on and time of serving) to the Copper ore trade(90% of the trade in the world went to swansea at that time), merchant navy during WW1, Sea pilots history, Cape horners...

That does not convince me that he passes WP:GNG but I will leave it for another reviewer to decide. Theroadislong (talk) 12:49, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kostja Horvat

you declined my submition because it contained youtube links. I removed youtube links and added more reliable sources from websites. Please review it again and inform me as to why the sources provided arent credible.

Please be more explicit about the grounds on which you have decined this entry.

Benson is listed in the List of Generals and Brigadiers in the British Army and it seems logical that there should therefore be details of his military career. Absimj (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:00, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
