I’d like to objection to the page of Ji Liu. He is a chart-topping Steinway Artist and one of the most famous young pianists. If a chart-topper is removed from Wikipedia, what has Wikipedia become? The article may need improving but certainly not deleting... I don’t quite understand Smerus recent actions of Wikipedia... Cabin2015 (talk) 20:31, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Improper hagiographic tone & style in previous version

The previous version of this page was much too hagiographic in style, much more reminiscent of a fan page than an objective, encyclopedic article. The purpose of wikipedia is to present "just the facts" on a subject and not to serve as a partisan PR-like medium for any given subject. In addition, the reference format presentation was woefully incorrect, and included links to sites that were not objective, 3rd-party references. DJRafe (talk) 06:12, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding DJRafe's comments

I do NOT understand the fact that DJRafe's concern and claim regarding hagiographic in style of the article of the Ji Liu (pianist) page. As far as my concern, DJRafe's articles on classical musicians by himself always lack of proper references - and the way he did delete Ji Liu's new album Piano Encores released in 2015 from 2015 in classical music page (where he noted that Ji Liu's album which is Piano Reflections, rather than the new Piano Encores had appeared on 2014 in classical music page, clearly showed his careless and lack of responsibility on editing this artist's page), already showed that he might have some personal opinions and bias on this particular artist. And the way he re-wrote this artist's page has a seemingly snobby attitude towards this artist.

If one would criticize the "wrong format" of Ji Liu (pianist)'s page, then DJRafe should have the same problem of many musicians page such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lang_Lang_(pianist), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuja_Wang, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Gaga, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Bieber which are all full with "puffery & extraneous laundry-list text; text cleanup to remove redundant passsages" and "much more reminiscent of a fan page than an objective, encyclopedic article" as DJRafe claimed.

I would not accept the re-write of DJRafe, despite of the time he had put on to this particular article. Unless he would be able to rewrite those others' pages which share similar "fan-page-like issues" that DJRafe concerns. (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:50, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for turning to discussion. Please sign all posts on talk pages. - I didn't study details but see that DJRafe's version looks much more like a standard encyclopedic article. I am sorry to say that Lang Lang does not. I hope you are aware that this is a collaborative project, and not up to you to accept something, but it has to be accepted by the community. My recommendation is you restore DJRafe's version and suggest changes here where editors will look who have a bit more experience than you. I can't do that for you because I voluntarily stick to one revert in any matter, - a rule I recommend you to adopt also ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:38, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
