On the Wikidata infobox discussion @ simple

Hi Bluerasberry. Just wanted to check in and ask what your plan is with regards to the Wikidata infobox integration at Simple moving forward. I'll note the discussion was auto-archived but I think there was enough broad consensus to move forward with the pilot so I'd be interested what the next steps would be. Hiàn (talk) 17:55, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Hiàn: Thanks for your interest. I want a pilot but I hesitated a bit when I saw all the moving pieces. Could you assist a bit? I have some text drafted at simple:User:Bluerasberry/Wikidata box and I think that I am over-documenting. Something that I do want to do is (1) list previous discussions on Simple English Wikipedia for easy access and without commentary (2) make a clear proposal with goals, timelines, and limitations at Simple English Wikipedia. What I do not want to do is (1) try to comprehensively explain this, because it is too much (2) encourage too much discussion before a limited experiment / pilot, because I think it is not possible to understand this without seeing it.
Do you have an idea for what you think would work? I want an experiment, but I do not feel strongly how the experiment should go. I feel like any small experiment now would be useful. Thanks for any suggestions. Blue Rasberry (talk) 23:44, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bluerasberry. If you'd be okay with it, I'd be happy to make some adjustments to the draft page and begin moves towards beginning the pilot. I think the terms of your initial proposal were fairly reasonable so I think the best thing would be to work within those guidelines. Details should probably first be finalized at ST (i.e. what sort of infobox should be first included in a pilot like this) - that strikes me as the best way forward and hopefully it'll let the community work out some of the kinks before proceeding.
I think that about sums it up. If you ever need help with anything on the administrative side, I can probably help out, and I think I'll be able to call on some users with reasonable technical abilities if it's necessary. Hiàn (talk) 00:17, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I registered

How can I appear to the Symposium now that I registered? Personisgaming (talk) 21:27, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Personisgaming: Thanks for your interest. It starts in 20 minutes, 6pm EST 2200 UTC, as described here: Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Symposium on Wikipedia and COVID-19
Watch live through YouTube or Facebook. Questions go directly to a moderator who brings questions to the speaker. Thanks for your interest. This is our first time trying this! Blue Rasberry (talk) 21:44, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a Zoom Code or a chat joining system? Personisgaming (talk) 22:00, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Personisgaming: There is not. All interaction happens through YouTube or Facebook in the links from the event page. Blue Rasberry (talk) 22:06, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bluerasberry: It was an honor joining the symposium I can't stress it enough. It provided lots of feedback on how to edit Wikipedia in general.Personisgaming (talk) 22:40, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for being part of the Symposium on Wikipedia and COVID-19 today

Hadn't expected to see Feisty and Pip live on YouTube, but that's what happened! I liked the format and am interested in exploring how something like this could become a more regular thing. -- Daniel Mietchen (talk) 01:29, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Café for May 2020

Hi Bluerasberry, are you interested in a Wikimedia Café for May 2020? ↠Pine () 18:13, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for your message. I have used (read and/or fixed minor typoes without an account/etc) Wikipedia for over a decade for lots of reasons so I am well aware that while many people say it's "bad" or "unreliable" that there are policies/procedures in place to make things work well. This is just the first time I've dove in and tried - it's much different from my past experiences at Bulbapedia and some Wikia (or whatever they're called now) sites. bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 01:22, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Medicine proposed decision

The Medicine proposed decision was posted --Guerillero | Parlez Moi 14:29, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

Hi Bluerasberry, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

I hope I'm not too late

in reminding you about the opinion piece for this issue. If I am, don't worry about it - we have enough content and it might be a great issue.

Thanks,

@Smallbones: excuse my silence, can we pass this time? I have nothing to submit. thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 01:13, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all. Smallbones(smalltalk) 01:38, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An arbitration case Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Medicine has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  • Standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all discussions about pharmaceutical drug prices and pricing and for edits adding, changing, or removing pharmaceutical drug prices or pricing from articles. Any uninvolved administrator may apply sanctions as an arbitration enforcement action to users editing in this topic area, after an initial warning.
  • CFCF is reminded to avoid casting aspersions and similar conduct in the future.
  • Doc James is prohibited from making any edits relating to pharmaceutical drug prices or pricing in the article namespace.
  • QuackGuru is indefinitely topic-banned from articles relating to medicine, broadly construed.

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in discussions about pharmaceutical drug prices and pricing and for edits adding, changing, or removing pharmaceutical drug prices or pricing from articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
