Unclear if the theatre will be actually demolished or actually transformed
According to MTL blog and the Montreal Gazette and a City of Montreal press release, the site will be transformed into housing. These articles appeared at the same time as the CTV News article cited saying it will be demolished.
Should this ambiguity be stated on the main page?

- First off, mtlblog has a reputation for not being a reliable source for information, so I tend to ignore them in general. As for the Montreal Gazette, while a far better source, it suffers from poor and confusing writing from its staff. Just as an example of that, on the topic of the Cinema V building they wrote: "new lease on life — along with a facelift" -- "plans to transform the former Cinema V into a mixed-use facility", yet a few lines down contradict that by stating: "partial or complete demolition of the building". Which is it, a facelift and transformation, or demolition?
- At any rate, if you read the CTV News report (it's linked and referenced in the article) they clearly mention a professional architectural firm deemed the building a lost cause, and the only option at this point is complete demolition. The only bit in question is whether the facade (front wall only, we're talking several inches) can be saved or not. Either way a brand new building, constructed from scratch from the ground up, will go up behind the facade--much like the Snowdon Theater. And they may not even save the facade, it depends on cost and how feasible it is.
- So no ambiguity here, the building has been declared structurally unsound and cannot be saved, period. It will be demolished. The only question is when. The COVID-19 pandemic has a lot of projects on hold, and budgets being re-evaluated. I suspect it may sit abandoned a bit longer until the crisis passes, and then completely demolished, facade and all.

- Yes, I read those articles. As I said, they say different things.
- So I emailed Montreal City Councillor for NDG, Peter McQueen, and he replied to me: "We have a plan with the SHDM to create social housing there with a cultural Center on the ground floors, while hopefully saving the facade and integrating it into the architecture".
- How can I integrate this into the article, seeing as how it isn't open source info? Dougbast (talk) 00:58, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
