Hello Xoder, and welcome to Wikipedia. Nice couple of stubs you wrote there, but you didn't introduce them properly. You're meant to start with a defining sentence involving the name in bold. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style -- Tim

Thanks for the RHPS tip! I live in CA now, can't go to east coast cons. Don't really have time or money for west coast cons, for that matter, I'm pretty fafiated these days :(

NYC schools

Regarding the Brooklyn Technical High School, Bronx High School of Science, and Stuyvesant High School links to Hunter College High School, I know that Hunter isn't in the same category of high school as the other three, and that's why it wasn't listed in the text of the articles with the others. However, it is a NYC public high school with an entrance exam that puts out some of the top students in the nation, and many of the top universities in the nation the names Stuy and Hunter are both known. I don't see anything wrong with listing Hunter as a See also on the pages of the three other schools; it does not take a prominent place on the page, readers will further understand the distinction when they read the page. --zandperl 19:16, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)

So which one did YOU go to?  ;) I guess I could help work on such a list, but having been cloistered away at Hunter, we'll see how much I can add. Is there a general list of NYC schools? --zandperl 16:25, 22 Mar 2004 (UTC)

LJ

I was wondering how you found me on LJ to friend... is this it? I found out you were here when you touched one on my watchlist Wikipedia:Unusual articles Xoder| 03:18, Apr 24, 2004 (UTC)

On a whim I looked for people whose Wikipedia user pages mentioned LJ. You write interestingly (and my list has affinity for NYCers). ♥ «Charles A. L.» 17:24, Apr 24, 2004 (UTC)

Hi Peter,

Regarding List of songs whose title appears more than twenty times in the lyrics, I noticed you added back MSI's "Bitches" twice after you said you counted 22. Sorry, but, I removed the song again (and placed it under ..ten times in the lyrics) because I only get a count of 19 (4 + 4 + 11). Might you have some other version than the one from Frankenstein Girls? -- Saaga 17:24, Jul 26, 2004 (UTC)

I have that version. I will have to take a listen again, when I pull the CD out. Xoder| 02:09, Jul 28, 2004 (UTC)

"Around the World" Daft Punk -- Rollin

Hi, perhaps you can help me, i noticed your comment on the Solipsism discussion page, and was wondering if you could clarify, Strangers in a Strange Land indicates the book by Robert Heinlein, correct? And if so, could you, briefly, elaborate on why it is a solipsist book?

I replied to you at your talk page Xoder| 20:21, Nov 6, 2004 (UTC)

Unverified images

Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. [[User:Poccil|Peter O. (Talk, automation script)]] 21:40, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

Banning Tor outproxies

I sent you an email yesterday about this, so sorry for any duplication.

I am running a tor proxy from my IP address User:129.21.147.219. While I am slightly disappointed that Wikipedia is blocking this good service, I understand it, and am not requesting that you remove the ban on my IP. Rather, I would like it if you could please allow my user account Xoder to edit — even if it is from this IP.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Xoder| 21:10, Jan 22, 2005 (UTC)

How odd, I didn't receive the email, can't find it in my spam folder either. Do you happen to have the Message-ID handy?
Anyway, in response to your request: I'm a big fan of anonymising networks, I used to be involved with freenet and once ran a Tor node. The current system has some problems with abuse limitation though (I was just about the start writing a mail to the or-talk list suggesting better filtering for known protocols on outproxies, suggesting it be made possible (and the default) to disable POST requests on port 80 when I got your talk), and as such it needs to be blocked from posting to wikipedia. If you'll add a reject 207.142.131.0/255.255.255.0:* (which will block the proxy from accessing wikipedia) to your config I'll remove the block. --fvw* 21:26, 2005 Jan 22 (UTC)
I used the wikipedia email form thing. I'll be doing that right now. Do you know if I have to restart the tor server to get the new config in? Xoder| 21:31, Jan 22, 2005 (UTC)
A test email via wikipedia just arrived within seconds, so I'm going to stick my head in the sand and assume it was a one-off glitch. I think just sending it the HUP signal will do the trick. --fvw* 21:36, 2005 Jan 22 (UTC)
Okay, I have sent the SIGHUP. Consider it done. Mesage me when the ban is undone. Xoder| 21:45, Jan 22, 2005 (UTC)
Already done. --fvw* 21:49, 2005 Jan 22 (UTC)

AfD process

With your recent deletion nomination of Hardcore Wrestling Federation, you didn't go through the nomination process correctly. At the bottom of WP:AfD the process is explained.

What you'd done is miss out the first step, and then make the mistake with the second and third step of capitalising deletion in Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion/Hardcore Wrestling Federation (as opposed to the correct Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hardcore Wrestling Federation) which meant it didn't show up properly on any of the pages.

I've put it all right now (although I probably should have moved the page, rather than just copy its content to the correct place. Too late now though, I guess). Perhaps you'd like to read about the AfD process to familiarise yourself with how to nominate for future reference though. KeithD (talk) 20:46, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that your edit summary said: (rv vandalism by User:217.219.111.130), however that IP address has not edited the article within the last month as far as I can tell. was that a mistake?--Alhutch 22:10, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, undoing too much vandalism at once. Must have mis-copied the IP.Xoder| 14:31, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Usa-green.png

I was the one who uploaded usa-green.jpg from the Census Bureau] in order to provide a map of the 50 states in a not-so garish form. There was one that had been used here had something like five or ten colors and looked like a kid's map used for children. I note that you came along and re-uploaded it, after converting it from JPG to PNG and thus reducing the size from 128K down to 9K. I'd just like to say thank you; it's one of those things I wish I had thought of. Making the image much smaller makes it easier for people on dial-up lines to use, and even if you have a fast connection, having a small image will load much faster. I was kind of surprised to see how much of a reduction in size could be obtained by a simple file format change. It's this sort of activity that makes Wikipedia a better place because it improves the quality of the material without sacrificing anything. Paul Robinson 16:20, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you on a list of New Yorkers. If you are interested in around we are having a meetup Wikipedians in June. Take a peek at this and please tell any other Wikipedians that you think might be interested in participating about this event. Thanks. Alex756 02:25, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
