HAVAS guruhi, meaning White Envy, an Uzbekistani music group comprised of 7 members of Ermatov family who became popular for singing Indian songs. Group is led by the founder couple "Rustam" and his wife "Matluba", who are director and producer of the group respectively. Singers and musician in the band are their 4 children, eldest child and son "Khakhraman" - the winner of Uzbekistan's Nihol award, second child and elder daughter "Shakhnoza", third child and youngest son "Dostonbek" and fourth and youngest child and daughter "Robiya". Eldest son's wife Khakhraman's wife "Hilola", a former tv anchor, is public relations officer of their band.[1][2][3]

They are winners of several international contests, have performed in several Indian cities in many Indian languages, held their first Bollywood concert in Uzbekistan in 2017 which was a big success, also participated in first season of StarPlus's music show Dil Hai Hindustani.[1][3][4]

Founding of group

The group was founed in 2010.[1][2] It is led by the director and producer couple Ermatov Rustamjon Gulomjonovich (Rustam) and his wife Ermatova Matluba Murotkhojaevna (Matluba) respectively. Rustam is group team leader and director. His wife Matluba, a graduate in child psychology, is the producer who also manages family's large textile business. Their son Gulomjonov Khakhraman (Khakhraman) and daughter Gulomjanova Shakhnoza (Shakhnoza) are the singers of the band. Khakhraman, the winner of "Nihol" national award granted by the president for excellence in music, is the lead singer, composer and keyboard player. Singer Shahnoza is also a keyboard player and painter. Khakhraman's wife Hilola, who is a former TV anchor and polyglot of 7 languages, is also the public relations officer of the band. Rustam and Matluba's, younger son Gulomjanova Dostonbek (Dostonbek) and multiple award winner youngest daughter Gulomjanova Robiyajohn (Robiya) are also singers and violinist in the band. Robiya has been singing in concerts since the age of 6 years. The eldest child of the founder couple, Khakhraman - the leade singer, was 22 years old as of January 2019.[1][2][3][5]

Indian music is popular in Uzbekistan, and bollywood actors and singers, such as Raj Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghosal and Arijit Singh, have large fan following in Uzbekistan.[1] Founder Ermatov couple use to love listening to the songs of legendary Indian actor Raj Kapoor, which also inspird their children to take up singing Indian songs.[3] Since Ermatov family does not understand Indian languages, Kakhramon initially had difficulty in singing the Indian songs, but once he grasped the emotions after searching the lyrics on internet and translating into Uzbak language he became good at singing Indian songs.[3] Ermatov family visited RK Studio, founded by Raj Kapoor in Mumbai in India, to pay their tribute to their inspiration.[3]

They first went viral after Khakhraman sung cult classic song Awaara Hoon from Raj kapoor's 1951 film Awaara during a celebration of 25 years of India–Uzbekistan relations at Indian embassy in Uzbekistan, Raj kapoor and his songs are very popular in India and overseas, especially in the former USSR block.[6]

Career

They founded the group in 2010 and sperformed their first concert in the same year.[1] Their first bollywood concert was in 2017.[3] They have sung in several Indian languages including Hindi / Music of Bollywood, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, Punjabi, and Malayalam.[3] They have performed in several Indian cities including Delhi, Agra, Mumbai, Pune, and Coimbatore, and their Delhi concert was attended by Raj Kapoor's son Rishi Kapoor who was moved to tears.[3] During their performances in several cities of India in 2018-19 they received good response from the Indian audience.[4] Along with Raj Kapoor's as well as old and coontemporary popular songs, they have also sung evergreen melodies of Manoj Kumar, Sadhana, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Kajol and more.[5]

During their January 2018 performance in Coimbatore they were the stars of the event, they started with national anthem Jana Gana Mana of India and State Anthem of Uzbekistan, and also sung popular songs of Raj kapoor and Malyalam song Entammede Jimikki Kammal.[7] To cheep people up during the tough lock down period of COVID-19 pandemic, they held a virtual tv concert on Indian channel ABP News.[8]

Reception

Their concerts in several Indian cities and TV shows, with songs in many Indian languages, have been well received.[1][3][9] Rishi Kapoor and Shashi Tharoor shared their music video on twitter, Rishi Kapoor was touched by their performance of his father's songs, and Shashi Tharoor louded them as an example of soft power of India.[6]

Awards

Band has won several international contests.[3] Lead singer Khakhraman was also honored with Uzbekistan's Nihol award by the President of Uzbekistan for excellence in music.[2]
