Goyang A (Korean: 고양시 갑) is a constituency of the National Assembly of South Korea. The constituency consists of parts of Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. As of 2020, 217,323 eligible voters were registered in the constituency. The constituency was created in 2016 from parts of the former Goyang Deogyang-gu A and Goyang Ilsandong-gu constituency.[1]
History
Since its creation in 2016, the constituency has been represented by Justice Party leader Sim Sang-jung. It is also the only regional single-member constituency represented by the Justice Party in the National Assembly.[2]
Goyang A is widely regarded as a progressive and liberal stronghold constituency, as the area has consistently elected members of center-left political parties except for the 2008 South Korean legislative election.[3]
