127th IOC Session
If I recall correctly the host city of an IOC session is announced three years before it takes place. I am interested in starting an article for the 127th IOC session (where the host of the 2022 winter games will be elected) however I do not know which cities are interested in bidding for this session. I am assuming that the host will be announced next year @ London 2012. If anyone gets any info on this subject, feel free to post it here. I am not in a rush to create this article and will only do so with sufficient information. --MusicGeek101 (talk) 15:24, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Change of session numbers
I believe this change of session numbers by Lirik to be incorrect. According to the official publication of the IOC, Revue Olimpique, 10th session was held in Berlin in 1909, while there was no sessions in London in 1908 at all. So, I'll revert that change in a while. Cmapm 18:46, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
colour shading
the purpose of the light blue and pink shading for some sessions has not be explained. I would assume the pink signifies sessions in the host city of said year's Olympic games, but the light blue doesn't seem to correspond to anything obvious. An explanation would be useful. 2008 Summer Olympics bidding results
Beijing was elected as the host city for the 2008 Summer Olympics on July 13, 2001, defeating bids from Toronto, Paris, Istanbul, and Osaka. Prior to the session, five other cities (Bangkok, Cairo, Havana, Kuala Lumpur, and Seville) had submitted bids to the IOC but failed to make the short list chosen by the IOC Executive Committee in 2000. After the first round of voting, Beijing held a significant lead over the other four candidates. Osaka received only six votes and was eliminated. In the second round, Beijing was supported by an absolute majority of voters, eliminating the need for subsequent rounds.[1]
