DYK for The Off Hours

HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:03, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We did one bridge article Mezcala Bridge earlier. Would you be interested in collaborating with me on this User:Nvvchar/sandbox/Saptha Badri, which is the most famous bridge in India?--Nvvchar. 16:56, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely, I'll do what I can. Jujutacular talk 17:05, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Shall I move to main space?--Nvvchar. 08:48, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Made some more tweaks, looks good to go. Jujutacular talk 09:38, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Can you move it to mainspace with history as I am not an Admn. Also, please nominate it with suitable hook of your choice. Thanks.--Nvvchar. 15:44, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I have fixed an img.--Nvvchar. 02:16, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Contact

I am not quite so sure how to get in contact with you. alfajorNYC Thanks for your help. I need to check out that page. It seems like there is censorship here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlfajorNYC (talkcontribs) 12:11, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is fine for getting in contact with me. What seems like censorship to you? Jujutacular talk 15:41, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If someone is deleting what I am editing/writing and, in essence, banning it from being published -- it is censureship. alfajor — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlfajorNYC (talkcontribs) 08:40, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I looked, and couldn't find any of your contributions being reverted. At any rate, this is a wiki, and there will be disagreements. By and large, we operate under the principle "Be Bold, Revert, Discuss". Take up any issues you have with articles on the respective talk pages, and form consensus there. Request to mentor a student

Hi, I'm a Campus Ambassador in the Public Policy Initiative and found your name at Wikipedia:WikiProject United States Public Policy/Online Ambassadors and was wondering whether you'd be up for mentoring User:vince.b.green, one of the students for Prof Gen's Environmental Policy class. I'll watch this page. Thanks! Dcoetzee 22:23, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly. I'll let the user know. Jujutacular talk 22:43, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I did

Look at the source text. The page is broken... again. Maury Markowitz (talk) 21:27, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've never really reviewed before, but the article looked great to me and the image was good to go. Is there something else I need to do? Maury Markowitz (talk) 16:34, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All you have to do is check that the article and hook meets all of the DYK criteria, then post below that article's nomination, saying so. It seems another user has already done so with Template talk:Did you know#Pinocchio paradox (I assume that's the article you were talking about). Jujutacular talk 17:04, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So we're good? I'm confused. And I ate too much. Maury Markowitz (talk) 02:00, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please find another nomination to review. Jujutacular talk 06:08, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I just saw this now. Why? It seems several people also reviewed (and commented), is my review not applicable any more? Maury Markowitz (talk) 17:38, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I OK'ed the nomination, but please review the nomination properly next time. Jujutacular talk 20:25, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Illinois (album)

On behalf of WP:CHICAGO, I would like to note my appreciation for your effort to raise the quality of the Illinois (album) article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 20:08, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings

Hi there, you have been assigned as my mentor. I am an MPA student in an environmental policy class. I will be doing some work on wikipedia this semester, including writing an original article. Just wanted to introduce myself. Slowly but surely, I think I am figuring this out but thanks in advance for any guidance or assistance. Have a great day!Vince.b.green (talk) 20:04, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great to hear from you. I see you've posted a review of the article Genetically modified organism on the talk page: very good work, it appears very thorough. Feel free to implement some changes if you feel you can improve it: "Be bold, revert, discuss" is a commonly used editing paradigm throughout Wikipedia. Regards, Jujutacular talk 22:02, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uh oh, not again!

I just closed this nomination, and I was surprised to discover that FP, FPC, and FPC archives were all removed from my watchlist. It's especially strange considering that my watchlist was fine after closing a nomination less than a day ago. Maybe just an example of the stochastic nature of the universe? I'll also point out this closure. I don't see any problem with underscores (like the earlier bug), and it only happened that once. So maybe Wikipedia is just trying to make me doubt my sanity? I don't need any help with that... Makeemlighter (talk) 20:54, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Very, very strange! The only thing I can think of is possibly your page cache needs clearing... did you do either of those recent closures on a different computer from normal? I'm very surprised that the watchlist issue came up again -- it was a very identifiable issue that should have been taken care of with this edit to the script in November. I'm doubting my sanity and I'm supposed to know the inner workings of that script! Maybe sometime soon I'll ask a more experienced coder to take a look at the script. I'm sure that much of the code could be written more effectively. Jujutacular talk 21:47, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The watchlist issue persists for me. I've been using the same computer as always. Makeemlighter (talk) 01:42, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That is frustrating. I can't figure out what would be causing that. I may still try to to get a more experienced coder to take a look. Jujutacular talk 14:14, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to note: I just used the script on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/File:Zebras and wildebeests, Ngorongoro.jpg and had the same watchlist issue... I'm wondering if this has something to do with the MediaWiki software that was just upgraded to 1.17, which includes this "Resource Loader". Jujutacular talk 23:56, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Vidyasagar Setu

MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 23:37, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There you go. That should be what you need; let me know if there's any problems.

For the record, in my recording, I also added a second track of the midi under a pedal, to try and get a little more of a "ringing out" of the piano, but I presume that'd be superfluous to you. If this goes well, I've been reworking an old Frog Legs Rag thing to more appropriate performance standards, and could give you a MIDI of that too. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 13:27, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looked Frog Legs Rag over. It's about half done. I'll finish it up tomorrow. Adam Cuerden (talk) 18:48, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And here you go! File:Frog Legs Rag 3.mid Adam Cuerden (talk) 00:09, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just to note: I fixed a couple minor things with it now =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 00:26, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I should probably do The Entertainer next. It's such a famous piece, and lacks a sufficiently accurate recording. Adam Cuerden (talk) 00:35, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, The Entertainer would be good. Great work on the Frog Legs Rag, I'll have time to run it through my software tomorrow. Jujutacular talk 03:54, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just remembered I put this up

This shows a small number of the techniques I use to humanise a MIDI. It's more complicated than that, of course, but those few bars showed things that were a bit easier to describe as rules. Adam Cuerden (talk) 04:20, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Three little pigs

Hi, great restoration. What is the technical term for the ?dotted way in which the work was produced? Tony (talk) 10:24, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, it's halftone. Jujutacular talk 14:02, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary

I was recently blocked for giving a misleading edit summary. Is that a sufficient reason to block someone? 84.13.50.235 (talk) 10:27, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That all depends on what the edit summary was exactly, what the edit was, and your history of contributions. Jujutacular talk 11:38, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It was this edit summary 84.13.50.235 (talk) 15:00, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have much background knowledge of the situation or of the related intricacies of Shia vs Shi'a or of Twelver, but it does seem to me that the block was warranted. I suggest that you accept the block, use your time to think about how your editing should change based on the block and warnings you have received, and come back in April to edit more effectively. Jujutacular talk 17:21, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Its not a big deal, i'm harldy on wiki nowadays anyway, but this is the 2nd time i feel i've been blocked disproportionally by the same admin. The first time i was blocked for making one revert, ignoring WP:3RR. This time, the same admin seems to violate WP:INVOLVED, as SoV was involved in my reverts and my twinkle thread. Btw, i'm not the first person who has claimed SarekofVulcan is violating WP:INVOLVED. Other editors with thousands of edits have said the same thing. This admin seems a little reckless in my opinion. Btw, there was a unanimous consensus for my "shi'a" change to "shia" here. 84.13.50.235 (talk) 19:35, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
