Welcome!

your recent activity has outer you as a communist just like Obama. Your savior is nothing more than a lying communist who kills babies. Thank your lucky stars that you weren't aborted as well but your mother may have done the world a favor if you had been.

Hello, LovesMacs, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome! Re: Thank you

Hi, I've had a go at answering your question at the help desk, basically global accounts or unified login is a way of registering your username across all of the wikimedia foundation, for instance on Wikimedia Commons, on WikiNews etc. Just ask me if you ever have trouble with something. Sunderland06 (talk) 19:17, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes Wikimedia Commons is the wiki for free use images, and on wikipedia, if you haven't already it would be a good idea to read through the links on the welcome message I left you and go through the tutorial, it'll help you massively in becoming an experienced user. Sunderland06 (talk) 19:35, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
That's not a problem, it's also a good idea to indent your comments like I am doing. Don't hesitate to ask me a question if you need to. Sunderland06 (talk) 19:42, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 19:31, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Need help?

I noticed this edit and I was wondering if you would like some help with what you are trying to do. If you would, I can give you hand. Thingg 01:04, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

ok, that's cool. I'm glad you got it fixed. btw, if you ever need help with anything else, feel free to ask... :) Thingg 04:36, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Re: thanks

No problem! I think you're right- it looks like a second IP vandalized Breaking Dawn right as you were trying to fix the first act. Andrea (talk) 02:22, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Re:Maybe you can help... (Bible Belt)

It is possible to remove an edit summary, but to do so I would have to delete the whole article and then restore it, which slows down the server. It's usually only done for blatantly vandalistic edits, such as those which libel a living person. In this case, it's relatively benign as vandalism goes. I will keep an eye on that editor, though. ... discospinster talk 03:29, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

about your comment

I didn't believe that you thought the terms were mutually exclusive, I thought the language you suggested may be misleading. I don't think you should shy away from the topic just because people get heated. You must remember, that article was under attack for a long time, and many people who have defended the article have also drank the Obama cool aid. However, polite and constructive editors such as yourself will always be listened to, even if the ideas aren't adopted. You should go back and at least voice your opinion on the straw poll they are having.LedRush (talk) 22:36, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi- don't worry about it, it was protected, but the protection expired. See the log for the page- the last protection expired on the sixth. There's a bot that normally removes the locks (it isn't done automatically when the block expires) but it doesn't seem to have got to this one; I'll remove it myself now. Vandalism warning levels

Hi thanks for your message. You have it exactly right about the levels. Sometimes it can be obvious of course that an edit is pure vandalism, but still level 1 is used mostly for first instances of such edits (unless of course where it is "blatant vandalism" and the blatant vanalism message can be used. I added a level 2 message to the ip user as they continued to add nonsense after receiving a Level 1 message. Often level 1 is more than enough to deter such edits. Unfortunately though some times it doesn't which is why we have to go through the various levels. I'm sorry but I don't use twinkle so can't help you with that! And keep up the good work reverting vandalism it can be a thankless task at times! Have fun,--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 00:57, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Re edit conflict

Hi, I didn't notice an edit conflict, it must have given you one but not me. Because I use Twinkle to tag new pages the message that is given is an automated one from there. Have you tried bringing up your concerns at Wikipedia talk:Twinkle? -- roleplayer 23:28, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes Twinkle does open an edit window for me on a rollback, I'm using Mozilla Firefox. I also have Safari but I don't edit Wikipedia with it if I can help it. -- roleplayer 23:35, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes it's normal. It's because the encoding is hidden somewhere in Twinkle's javascript, rather than in your browser settings. Or something like that. -- roleplayer 21:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Safari isn't too bad on Wikipedia. I use it almost exclusively. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 22:42, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Macs rule!

I'm an experienced wikipedian (hmmmm...not sure if that's a word) using a Mac. That may elicit a yawn, except that Wikipedia can be a bit funky with Macs. It too me a better part of 6 months to get some things to work appropriately on a Mac. Anyways, not that I'm an expert, but if you need help, just ping me on my user talk. Just a reminder, my user talk is kind of R-rated, and it's a bit of run-down drinking establishment, where experienced users complain about all things Wikipedia. I read everything there, of course, I'm sure I'll find anything you write. You can ignore anything there you want. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 22:42, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

BTW, you can copy and paste my monobook if you want. I cleaned up a lot of coding for the Mac, so it seems to work very well on Safari. Check it out. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 22:44, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: Ho Chi Minh

No worries. Unfortunately, that happens all the time, particularly when a prior editor reverts some, but not all, vandalism. I would have missed it too, except that I was going through all of one particular vandal's edits. Keep up the good work.--Kubigula (talk) 03:21, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you made a comment about whether or not the Bible is myth. Over on the Noah's Ark talk page ( Click Here), they are having a vote on whether or not to change it and call the Ark a myth or just say it came from the Book of Genesis.

Current wording #1 is to keep it saying "Book of Genesis." Proposed wording #2 is to change it to say "mythology." If you feel like adding your support to one or the other, you are more than welcome. Have a good day! 76.249.24.106 (talk) 05:07, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello again! Thanks for catching the vandalism on my user page. Though the anonymous editor appears to have read my self-description and all my userboxes, which is quite flattering, I do think I like my version of the page better. --Fullobeans (talk) 01:34, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Your edit about Plato on History of evolutionary thought

I reverted your recent edit to History of evolutionary thought. The reason I gave in the edit summary is that the example you added did not come from the cited sourse for the paragraph. However, I thought I would mention that the other reason I deleted it is that it is not quite correct. Poodles and beagles are themselves catagories not individuals. Therefore Plato would presumably say that there would be an ideal poodle that reflected the essense of poodleness. A more correct example would be that if you had two individual real poodles, the differences between them would be due to the fact that they were both imperfect representations of the ideal poodle where as their similarities were due to the fact that they were both reflections of the same essense. Or if you thought that poodle and beagle were too insignificant to have essenses because poodle and beagle are merely varieties of dog. Then you would say some think like "If you had two dogs, a poodle and a beagle, the differences between them would be do to the fact that they are each imperfect reflections of an ideal dog." Of course without a published source that uses the example it is still original reasearch and can't be included in an article. Incidentally, the dog vs poodle problem (the problem that essential concepts like dog could have sub concepts like poodle and beagle that themselves have essences) was recognized as a weakness of Plato's ideas by later philosophers. I apologize for the extended comment, but I thought you might be interested. Rusty Cashman (talk) 06:00, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Cara Black

You have two options:

  • You can ask Fuhghettaboutit (talk · contribs) to add their material again to the main article so you don't need to worry about attribution yourself.
  • You can add all the material they posted to your subpage to the article and say something along the lines "Material posted Fuhghettaboutit taken from User:LovesMacs/subpage". (adding the date would help too)

Hope that helps. - Mgm|(talk) 10:28, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi!

Could have gone either way with that one. I've always tried to give the benefit of a doubt with warnings on the talk page. Otherwise, an AIV report may be declined for lack of warnings. Given the detailed nature of that guy's last attack, an AIV would have certainly been warranted. Thanks for the good job of warning the guy in the first place. La Peau de chagrin

LM, Thanks for your addition to La Peau de chagrin. As I pointed out in the edit summary, I removed it not because it's unsourced — it's fairly obvious as a translation, and doesn't need a source. However, there's a danger that the lead will be overburdened with information, so it's best not to include it there. (Notice that it is included in the "Reception and legacy" section later in the article.) Thanks again for your keen attention to detail! Scartol • Tok 15:07, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
