March 11: Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon @ MoMA (and beyond!)

Saturday March 11: Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon @ MoMA

Join us at the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Education and Research Building at the Museum of Modern Art, 4 West 54th Street, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an all-day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism. There will be childcare, snacks, multiple trainings and panel discussions. People of all gender identities and expressions welcomed and encouraged to attend.

This year’s edit-a-thon kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with a conversation about information activism with writer Joanne McNeil and Data & Society Research Institute Fellow Zara Rahman, moderated by Kimberly Drew, the social media manager for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, creator of the Tumblr “Black Contemporary Art,” and the person behind @museummammy on Instagram. Afternoon breakout groups will engage in focused discussions about related issues, including intersectionality and librarianship, power structures in notability guidelines on Wikipedia, and radical archives. --Pharos (talk) 18:46, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Topic ban reconsideration

Following advice in the introduction to WP:AE, would you reconsider my topic ban imposed by you over four years ago in Nov 2012 (discussion), (notification), on the consideration that:

  1. It was over 4 years ago. During this time, I have:
  2. Received no further blocks[1]
  3. Created over 90 new articles[2]
  4. Contributed significantly to articles that have received Good Article status, including (a) Cerne Abbas Giant (15 Jan 2013), and Lobster (magazine) (6 Jan 2013)
  5. Participated in "grey" topic areas,[3] on the advice of Drmies, and notified to yourself, [4] that Drmies said "participation could be a test case for me".

--Iantresman (talk) 13:37, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is not "grey area". It's squarely within your topic ban. I'm not inclined to lift it when there's a recent violation. T. Canens (talk) 20:44, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I am obviously very disappointed, especially as I was trying to contribute in good faith based on what I considered was another "grey" area, about a person. Yes he is related to plasma science (but the discussion was about him being a scientist), just as the "grey area" magazine discussion was related (broadly construed) to astrophysics. You'll note that in both discussions I provided more sources than anyone else by far, which as a basic pillar of Wikipedia per WP:RS and WP:TALK#FACTS, I would have hoped counted for something. In my opinion, editors are supposed to be penalised for vandalising the sidewalk (pavement), not treading on the lines, and I hope you'll reconsider. --Iantresman (talk) 21:36, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
