I mainly work on categories and would use AWB to help ensure the categories are complete, that they contain all articles/ sub-categories they are supposed to contain and no other. I have made some erroneous edits with AWB in the past and do not intend to repeat that again. I have recently been using AWB a great deal in Commons and have not made such errors there. Thanks. information Administrator note I revoked AWB access per consensus at ANI. — JJMC89(T·C) 03:57, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Note. This occurred on 18 Feb 2019, at which time you wrote "After a period of no less than six months you may request access" here, which I have done. Thanks Hmains (talk) 15:35, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I want to use AWB to maintain a number of articles that I am interested in. These are, at least for now, about 40 biographies of Irish persons. These biographies have Family trees and Timelines that have not yet found their ideal format and I would like to be able to edit them all in one go. With many thanks Johannes Schade (talk) 11:23, 24 October 2019 (UTC) Johannes Schade (talk) 11:23, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Johannes Schade, is there a discussion where this "ideal format" is being discussed, or are people just taking BOLD actions over and over until someone decides it's "good enough"? Primefac (talk) 12:00, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Primefac. I have created these family trees and timelines on these 40 articles (e.g. Helen MacCarty. Surely, it would be nice if somebody else came along and helped me to improve them, but for the time being I am alone. I do not intend to make automatic changes on other family trees or timelines. I hope to find other users that create or maintain family trees and timelines in biographies similar to those to which I have contributed, but I have not found them yet. Then, certainly, a consensus should be found about how such family trees and timelines should be presented in Wikipedia. With thanks. Johannes Schade (talk) 15:46, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I want to be able to use this—I need access to it to use JavaScript Wiki Browser (I'm on Mac) and make a bunch edits for HTTPS security. Requesting bots' owners to add specific sites takes too long—I want to be able to take matters into my own hands. I’d also like to be able to fix big groups of typos using this. Thanks! DemonDays64, how are you checking to make sure that the new URLs are working as intended? Primefac (talk) 23:51, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Primefac—it's pretty simple; when I'm editing for HTTPS, I open the HTTP page and see if it redirects to HTTPS. If it does, I edit it in. If it doesn't, I try changing the URL to be HTTPS. If there's a "this link is a security threat!" warning, I don't edit it in. If the images and stuff seem to not be broken, I edit it in. When automated, I would be careful to only do this for main domains—frequently, old subdomains don't have HTTPS.  Done. Thanks for the clarification. Primefac (talk) 15:32, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am active with editing infoboxes for localities and schools, and this tool would assist in this task. I work with making sure population stats are accurate and updated in the infoboxes for these localities, which is tedious doing it by hand manually. I plan to use AWB to help with maintenance tagging and nominating articles for deletion. I may also use it a little to copyedit articles more efficiently. I will not use fully automated features, though. Awesome Aasim 07:13, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome Aasim, you have been blocked in the past for disruptive editing; will those issues arise if you are given the ability to edit dozens of pages at a time? I also am wondering if you know the purpose of AWB, as it is almost useless for AFD nominations and not really much better for maintenance tagging.
