Harmeet Singh Mamik popularly known as Mamik (born 3 May 1963)[1] is an Indian actor, who works on television and has also worked in a few Bollywood movies. He is best known for his roles in films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), Kya Kehna (2000), and television shows like Woh (1998), Ssshhhh...Koi Hai (2002), Vikraal Aur Gabraal (2003), Kaala Saaya (2009), Horror Nights (2011).
Career
Mamik made his acting debut in the hit film, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) as Aamir Khan's elder brother Ratan. He was auditioned by Farah Khan approved By Mansoor Khan for his role in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Despite the film's popularity, Mamik didn't sign any assignments in films for five years finding the projects insignificant. So, he started working more on TV serials. Meanwhile, He bagged three more films like Aar Ya Paar, Dil Ke Jharoke Main, Koi Kissi se Kum Nahin., along with the hit Kya Kehna (2000), directed by Kundan Shah being his last film. After that film, Mamik ended working in Bollywood Films for a long time & debut in the Nepali language movie Hamro Sano Ghar hola playing the lead role opposite to Puja Chand & Rajesh hamal.This film which was a huge success & celebrated more than 51 days in many theatres in Nepal and continued to work on many television hit serials, which include Saahil, Maal Hai To Taal Hai, Aa Gale Lag Ja, Saturday Suspense, Champion, Chandrakanta and Woh. In Ssshhhh...Koi Hai (2002), Mamik starred as Vikraal, a ghostbuster which earned him accolades and made him a famous TV star overnight, many consider Ssshhhh...Koi Hai to be his best work to date. Same Year he was seen in the biggest Daily Soap Kkusum as ACP Saket Sahani produced by Ekta Kapoor aired on Sony, which was also appreciated much. But again he has been brought for a few episodes therefore his role came to an end. Then, he was seen in the movie Mallika, a horror film, where he was seen doing a negative role which was again appreciated but the movie had a moderate response at the box office. He then starred in Chandramukhi on DD1 and Kaala Saaya(Black), which aired on 9X/Sahara One. He also appeared in Kahani Chandrakanta Ki, which aired on Sahara One again directed and produced By Sunil Agnihotri. After this, he was off-air again for a few days and then was seen in the show Savdhaan India, for two episodes in a negative role.In 2015, he signed a movie in a supporting role with Pen Movies Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, directed by Deepak Tijori which also starred Randeep Hooda & Kajal Agarwal released in 2016. Somehow, this movie didn't work well but Mamik's role was accoladed and the public welcomed him again. After this venture, he didn't sign any movies again and jumped back to Television and started with few episodes in Agent Raghav - Crime Branch, Mayavi Maling which aired on &TV and Star Bharat in 2016–17. He was latest seen in a web series named "Rangmanch" (Fliz Movies) and Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story released in (SonyLiv) App. He again featured on ALTBalaji ' s Who's Your Daddy (Season 2) as Mohak along with YouTube & TikTok Sensations Bhavin Bhanushali & Sameeksha Sud in which the teaser itself made a mark on YouTube and fans loved his new character which is funny and the season episodes will be on air on 22nd December 2020.
