Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 (MAPI) is a beauty pageant in Asia.[1] It began in the 1960s, the oldest in Asia.[2] It is based in the Philippines with forty-two women from all over the world. In 2016, Miss Asia Pacific International came under new ownership and management.
The finals were held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila on Thursday, November 29, 2016.[3] Francielly Ouriques of Brazil took the crown.[4] The swimsuit competition was held in Puerto Princesa City. The top awards went to Louisa Brown of Australia for Miss Congeniality and Best National Costume to Rita Nurmaliza of Indonesia.
History
After 10 years of managerial and name changes, Miss Asia Pacific International was re-launched in 2016 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan with Tessa Helena Le Conge of the Netherlands winning the title.[clarification needed] The pageant officially started with the press presentation of the candidates November 13, 2017, at Edsa Shangri-La. Before the event, the contestants completed several preliminary competitions that were held around the Philippines.[5]
