Mokryan, also known as Mukriyan, Mukri, Mokri, Mokrī or Mokriyan, was a Muslim Kurdish emirate centered at Mahabad[1] and Piranshahr[2] cities, ruling areas to the south and west of lake Urmia, for four centuries from the end of the 15th century.
Before Mukris, the region was ruled by Hadhabanis. During the Battle of Dimdim, Mukriyanis rallied around Kurds of Bradost (Baradost).[3]
The Mokryan region encompasses the two cities of Piranshahr and Mahabad[4]. It is officially part of West Azerbaijan Province in Iran. [5]
