The Pussycat Dolls concert chronology |
Unfinished Business[1] (also known as the PCD Reunion Tour[2]) is the upcoming third concert tour by American girl group The Pussycat Dolls. It was announced in 2019, when Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Carmit Bachar, Kimberly Wyatt and Jessica Sutta announced that the Dolls were reforming for new music and a brand new concert tour. Former member Melody Thornton was involved in the conversations to reunite but has instead opted to focus on solo ventures.
The tour was due to begin in April 2020 with nine arena dates around the UK and Ireland, but these were postponed until the Autumn due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. It is now scheduled to begin on July 26, 2020 with a single summer festival performance before progressing on to areans in UK and Ireland in October and November 2020. A number of festival dates were cancelled all together including a headline slot at Brighton Pride (UK), So Pop Festival (Australia and New Zealand), Untold Festival (Romania) and Super Bloom (Germany), while some international dates in Japan, Brazil and the Philippines have been postponed pending further confirmation.
Background
The group performed for the first time in nearly a decade on the final of UK reality tv competition, The X Factor: Celebrity where alongside previous singles, they also performed a new song "React" and have since confirmed that new music is in production alongside the tour.[3][4]n Former member, Melody Thornton decided not to reunite with the group in order to focus on her solo career.[5]
Speaking on their decision to tour the UK and Ireland, Roberts told the BBC, "L.A. was our home, but the U.K. was our second home because the British just scooped us up. So, our lives ended up here as well, some of us, so the fans have just been holding on strong with wanting this reunion and our biggest fanbase is over here."[6] In the same interview, Wyatt noted that the group had been talking about a reunion for some years, "it’s been a few years in the making" and tour was dubbed Unfinished Business, supported by comments made by both Roberts and Wyatt. Wyatt said "I think ultimately there’s some unfinished business with The Pussycat Dolls"[6] and Roberts agreed, noting that it had "been 10 years ... we just all were ready to do it".[7] As part of the tour, the group was confirmed to be headlining the second day of Brighton Pride.[8]
The tour's first leg was supposed to begin in April 2020, visiting 9 venues around the UK.[9] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, tour dates were postponed until October 2020.[9] Additionally for the same reasons, Brighton Pride was postponed for a year; it has not been confirmed whether the group will appear in 2021 for the new scheduled date.[10] The tour was then scheduled to begin in July with a number of festival and racecourse events through the UK and Ireland, as well as the Untold Festival in Romania and Superbloom Festival in Germany. However, it will now begin on July 26, 2020 at Slessor Gardens in Dundee, Scotland before visiting the rescheduled arenas in October and November. A second leg featuring dates across Brazil, Philippines, Japan and Oceana has been postponed, with some dates cancelled all together.
