Ariane Labed (born 8 May 1984) is a Greek-born French actress. She made her feature film debut in Attenberg (2010), for which she won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. Later, she appeared in Alps (2011) and Before Midnight (2013). In 2014, she starred in several short films such as High and Dry and played the leading role of Alice in the film Fidelio, Alice's Odyssey, for which she was nominated the César Award for Most Promising Actress. In 2015, she appeared in The Forbidden Room and in The Lobster.

Life and career

Labed was born in 1984 in Athens, Greece, to French parents. She grew up between Greece, Germany and France. After studying dance for 10 years, she studied theatre at the Université de Provence. A founding member of Vasistas Theatre Company, she has acted in most of their performances.[3]

Labed was awarded the Volpi Cup for the Best Actress at the 67th Venice International Film Festival for her performance in Attenberg, directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari, which was her debut film.[4][5] She starred in the film Alps, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.[4][5] In 2014, she appeared in the film Fidelio, l’odyssée d’Alice, for which she was nominated for the César Award and the Lumières Award for Most Promising Actress.

In 2016, she appeared in "Men Against Fire", an episode of the anthology series Black Mirror. She also appeared in the 2016 film Assassin's Creed.
