Arjit Taneja (born 10 November 1992) is an Indian television actor and model. He made his television debut in the reality shows MTV Splitsvilla 6 and Box Cricket League and starred in several TV fiction dramas namely Zee TV Kumkum Bhagya, Kaleerein, Colors TV Bahu Begum, Naagin 5 & Naagin 6, Dangal TV Nath – Zewar Ya Zanjeer and StarPlus Banni Chow Home Delivery. He won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in Kumkum Bhagya at the Zee Gold Awards.

Early life and education

Arjit Taneja was born on 10 November 1992 and belongs to a Punjabi family.[1] He attended modern school, Delhi and graduated with a BA degree in computer programming at University of Delhi.

In 2012, Taneja moved from Delhi to Mumbai to began his acting career.

Career

Career beginnings (2010–2014)

In November 2010, he joined the modelling agency Elite Model Management India Pvt. Ltd. In mid-2012, Taneja moved from Delhi to Mumbai and began his acting career in television. That same year, he got a role in Channel V India's V The Serial, produced by Ekta Kapoor. In 2013, he participated in MTV India MTV Splitsvilla 6. In 2014, he participated in Sony TV's Box Cricket League, the latter of which was his third with Kapoor. He was later seen in Ekta Kapoor's Bade Achhe Lagte Hain on Sony TV.[2]

Breakthrough and establishment (2014–present)

Taneja's career finally saw a turning point in 2014, when he signed the parallel lead role of Purab Khanna opposite Mrunal Thakur in Zee TV's popular daily soap Kumkum Bhagya.[3][4] He won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Zee Gold Awards. He left the show in 2016. Simultaneously along with Kumkum Bhagya, he was seen as Bilal Khan in Sony TV's Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do in 2015.[5]

In 2016, he presented Zing's Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.[6] In 2017, Arjit moved to Indonesia where he was cast as lead in the Indonesian show Nadin on ANTV alongside his former Kumkum Bhagya co-star Mrunal Thakur and Indonesian actress Dewi Persik.[7]

In February 2018, Taneja began essaying the character of Vivaan Kapoor in Zee TV's Kaleerein.[8] It went off air in November 2018.

From July 2019 to January 2020, Arjit was cast as the lead Azaan Akhtar Mirza Colors TV's love triangle-themed Bahu Begum,[9] co-starring Samiksha Jaiswal and Diana Khan.[10][11]

In January 2021, he made a cameo appearance as Farishta, an angel, in the supernatural revenge thriller Naagin 5 and reprised the same role in February 2021 for Kuch Toh Hai: Naagin Ek Naye Rang Mein, both of which were aired on Colors TV and created by Ekta Kapoor.[12] In August 2021, he was seen as Shambhu Thakur on Nath – Zewar Ya Zanjeer on Dangal TV. In March 2022, he decided to quit saying that he did not see his role shaping up as he wanted it to be.

From September to December 2022, he starred in StarPlus show Banni Chow Home Delivery as Rockstar Agastya Kapoor.

In 2023, he participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 13 and finished as the 1st runner-up.

In July 2023, he made a cameo appearance in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Since November 2023, he is portraying Virat Singh Ahuja opposite his former Kumkum Bhagya co-actor Sriti Jha in Zee TV's Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye.
