Banavara was a taluk place in pre structure of districts as I had heard in a speech of Ex- President Late Chandrashekhara Shreshti of Banavara Municipality in 1969 who emphasised Re- structuring of Banavara as Taluk. It is also to be noted that Kadur a nearby Taluk, now in Chikmagalur District was a District Centre in older period. The details about Banavara and palyagars who ruled over etc. needs to be updated from those who knows more about history of Banavara. This has a Kalyani called Arsikatte Bhavi perhaps built up on behalf of a queen by a Palyagar or Dandanayaka
