Cave of the barn owls. Located at the Tingo Maria National Park. At the entry is a big room in a limestone mountain. The most accesible route can be used all year long. There are daily arrivals and departures by plane from Lima. It is believed to be the most beautiful cave in Peru. Though it has been well known for almost a century and the cave was researched, little has been released to public knowledge. Its name in Spanish is "Cueva de las lechuzas." Tingo Maria is a province capital with 55,000 inhabitants (2009); it has all the facilities that are required by modern life. Weather: mostly hot and very rainy. Height: 2,500 feet; 800 meters.

Cave of Huagapo: It is near Tarma, a province capital. While Tarma has not an airport, it is very accesible by land from Lima and other places. Tarma is a province capital with all that modern life requires. Weather: cold to warm. Height: 10,000 feet; 3000 meters.
