Companies and Organizations
[edit]It appears that there may be enough BEV/EV Production Companies that they may warrant their own new sub category. Likewise there may also be enough organizations to start a new category for them aswell... --D0li0 12:01, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Move all battery EV cars down into Category:Battery electric cars?
[edit]There are a bunch of cars in here, there are 80 more cars in its subcategory Category:Battery electric vehicles, and then there 91 more cars in the other subcategory Category:Electric cars, but most precisely all battery electric cars belong their sub-subcategory Category:Battery electric cars, yet that only has 5 cars in it!?!.
It seems Wikipedia should either give up and categorize "EV" cars under Electric vehicles, or do the right thing and move them all to Battery electric cars. Is it OK if I do the latter? -- Skierpage (talk) 09:49, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- The general rule is to put each article into its most specific category. So what you a proposing seems to be the correct thing. Stepho talk 12:18, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- Category:Battery electric cars was created by one of Mac's socks. He is a persistent nuisance who keeps screwing up the EV category structure with redundant categories like this one, e.g. see here. Perusing the category, it seems that nearly everything in it is a battery electric car, so you'd be moving nearly the entire category into a subcat. I'd just upmerge instead. - Any developments here? "(screwing up the) EV category structure with redundant categories" is a precise describtion, there are so many things to consider:
- - separation between car/vehicle in names and structure of categories
- - standardised separation between hybrid, plugin hybrid, other hybrid technologies, electric vehicles and battery powered vehicles.
- - separation between fuel/energy technology and kind of drive/motor in some cases
