The King Shock (in Portuguese Choque-Rei) or Palmeiras and São Paulo football rivalry is the football match known among São Paulo clubs Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras and São Paulo Futebol Clube. Is the football rivalry between two very big, classic football clubs. The Derby dates from back from 1930. The tension between both clubs is very big. It is the second biggest Derby in the city of São Paulo, only behind the Paulista Derby, this derby is with the other big club from São Paulo, the Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras. The Paulista Derby is one of the biggest rivalry in the world[1]

In the Choque-Rei, São Paulo has advantage over Palmeiras, including all matches, having won 103 times over 98 victories from Palmeiras, the number of drawn matches is 99, describing an equalised encounter. But in matches counting for the Campeonato Brasileiro, Palmeiras has more victories than São Paulo, reaching 18 wins over 10 from São Paulo, and with other 26 draws.

Greatest tragedy between palmeirenses and sãopaulinos

On August 20, 1995 saw the greatest tragedy in the history of King Shock, just a game between juniors. At the end of Super Junior São Paulo, after a draw in normal time, the boys from Palmeiras win the cup with a goal in extra time - 1 x 0, but instead of party, was the largest pitched battle in the history of our football. The game was held at the Pacaembu stadium, at the time of reforms, full of debris, stones and iron beams scattered among the stands. Full stadium, the game, the banter between fan groups, especially Mancha Verde Independent and Twist. Suddenly, fans invade the pitch, armed with sticks and stones, going against each other. The TV's recorded live groups of cowards who surrounded and beat opponents alone. Finally, the Pacaembu was practically destroyed, 101 were wounded and sãopaulino Márcio da Silva Gasparin, 16, who after being clubbed, was taken to hospital in a coma, and he sadly died eight days after suffering the attack on the day on August 28. After these facts were downed Independent Channel and justice, and drastic change in dealing with organized.
