Cookies & Milk is a upcoming animated series, based on the debut novel of blues musician Shawn Amos, with Laurence Fishburne as an executive producer.[1] The series will premiere on an unnamed Disney Branded Television platform.[2][3]
Plot
[edit]Tells the story of a black boy named Ellis Johnson who helps his possibly magical, and optimistic, father, open a cookie shop in Hollywood, California in the 1970s.[4][1][5]
Production
[edit]In May 2022, Disney Branded Television announced the series development, with Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland, of Cinema Gypsy Productions,[6] as executive producers. Jesse Murphy and James Sears Bryant of Jesse James Films, and Shawn Amos will also be executive producers.[2][7][8] Brian Egeston is a co-executive producer and story editor.[4] Disney Television Animation will be producing the series.[2][9]
The animated series is based on the debut semi-autobiographical middle grade novel of Shawn Amos of the same name, which focuses on his own life experience as the son of Wallace “Wally” Amos, Jr..[10][11] It is also set to join other Disney products based on books, like the Superfudge animated feature film and live-action Paola Santiago and the River of Tears series.[12] As of December 2024, a specific release date has not yet been announced.
