Having initially ordered the program in 2020 as a limited series,[1] Netflix announced on November 7, 2022, that it had renewed Monster as an anthology series, with two further editions based on the lives of "other monstrous figures" to be announced.[2]
On May 1, 2023, Netflix announced the season, which is based on the murder case of the Menéndez brothers.[3] On June 29, 2023, Deadline reported that Cooper Koch and Nicholas Chavez were cast as Lyle and Erik Menéndez respectively.[4] On January 15, 2024, it was reported that Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny had joined the cast as José Menéndez and Kitty Menéndez respectively.[5] That same day, Nathan Lane was cast as Dominick Dunne.[6] On February 1, 2024, Ari Graynor joined as Leslie Abramson.[7] Leslie Grossman was added that same month as Judalon Smyth.[8]
Release[edit]
Menéndez is scheduled to be released on Netflix in 2024.[9] Leslie Grossman was added that same month as Judalon Smyth.[10]
