Pioneer Assurance Company Limited Commonly referred to as Pioneer Insurance is an Insurance and Investment group that operates mainly in Kenya. Pioneer Insurance has a network of branches and operational subsidiaries spread across the country.

The group's headquarters are geographically located in Nairobi, Kenya. Its subsidiaries are involved in General and Life Insurance.[1] The group has various branches in Kericho, Thika, Mombasa, Malindi, Voi, Meru County, Machakos, Embu County, Kisumu, Nyeri, Eldoret, Nakuru, Bungoma County, Homa Bay County and Kitale.[2]

The Company origins in Kenya back to the 1930 when known as Pioneer General Assurance Society Ltd. On 1st January 2002, Pioneer Assurance Company Limited acquired the closed life funds of Occidental Insurance Company Limited and Fidelity Shield Insurance Company Limited[1]. As of 2022, the company had 18 sales offices across the country with a total of over 700 independent Sales representatives[1]. As at 31st December 2016, the Company's annual premium turnover was in excess of Kenyan shilling 5.2 Billion. [3]
In 2015, Pioneer General Insurance Limited was incorporated and duly licensed by Insurance Regulatory Authority (Kenya)to underwrite all classes of general insurance in Kenya. Pioneer General Insurance Limited is owned by Pioneer Insurance Holdings Limited. The company has treaties with various reinsurance companies such as: African Reinsurance Corporation , PTA (Zep) Reinsurance Company, Kenya Reinsurance Corporation and East Africa Reinsurance Company.
The company has a financial base of an excess of Kshs 600M.[4]
