Fenton
Unremarkable white rendered vernacular building with pantile roof and chimneys at each end. It is starkly symmetrical with 3 windows upstairs, and downstairs a central door with a window on either side. To the left a low white rendered wall extends along the pavement; to the right the open carpark abuts the road. The ground floor windows are flanked with dark shutters, and the door with dark noticeboards. The pub sign is a long painted affair fixed above the right hand ground floor window. A more conventional swinging sign is at the left of the building, edge-on to us: its details unseen. It is a sunny day, with a clear blue sky and the whitewashed building is fresh and bright. dark electrical cables, pole mounted, cross the blue sky in front of the pub.
The Carpenters arms
A faded period photograph of the motel on a grey day. The main road is in the foeground, from lower right to half way up the left side. In the middle distance a two-story 18th or 19th century building stands at right angles to the road, it's windowed frontage facing our vantage point. It is on the opposite side of the road to us, beyond the entrance track. This side of the track, in the centre of the photograph and still on the opposite side of the road to us are a range of low, flat-roofed, single story buildings, almost certainly new at the time. There is low whir post-and-rail fencing on the verge this side of the motel. The older building is probably red brick. The new buildings have dark grey walls. The sign reading 'Trenton Motel' is clearly visible by one of the modern buildings.

Fenton is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England.[2] It is situated 9 mi (14 km) north-west from the city and county town of Lincoln, 4 miles (6.4 km) west from Saxilby, and on the A156 Lincoln to Gainsborough road.

Fenton is a centre for the breeding of a local cattle variety, the Lincoln Reds.[citation needed] It is also a centre for fishing, being 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east the River Trent.[citation needed]

The ecclesiastical parish is Kettlethorpe with Fenton, part of the Saxilby Group of the Deanery of Corringham. The parish church is in the smaller village of Kettlethorpe 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to the south. The 2014 incumbent is Rev Canon Rhys Prosser.[3]

The village public house is the Carpenter Arms.
