Gangachara (Template:Lang-bn) is an Upazila of Rangpur District in the Division of Rangpur, Bangladesh.[1]

Geography

Gangachara is located at 25°51′00″N 89°13′00″E / 25.8500°N 89.2167°E / 25.8500; 89.2167 . It has 37235 households and total area 209.61 km².

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Gangachara has a population of 192336. Males constitute 52.04% of the population, and females 47.96%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 94048. Gangachara has an average literacy rate of 22.4% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[2]

Administration

Gangachara has 8 Unions/Wards, 74 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 123 villages.

The Society for Humanity Advancement and Rural Empowerment works in the area.
