Genra is a non-playable character on DOA3. His powerful long-range priority attacks are his greatest strength, keeping the player in a defensive position and unable to attack. He also features a shockwave attack that activates whenever knocked down. His throws feature a low damage ratio and his attacks have a noticeable wind-up time frame and can be blocked normally. Omega also has an obvious pattern that can be memorized with experience. Also unlike other fighting games, Omega is fought at an obscure camera angle.

Template:DOA Character

Omega is a fictional character from the Dead or Alive video game series, acting as the final boss of Dead or Alive 3. His real name is Genra and is Ayane's foster father.

History

Before Dead or Alive

Genra is Ayane's foster father, taking her into the Hajin Mon sect at a very young age to assist the Mugen Tenshin ninja clan from the shadows.

Dead or Alive 3

Years later, Genra is captured by DOATEC and augmented to become a superhuman warrior codenamed Omega, a slave under the company's control. Ayane sets out to destroy her beloved foster father in order to free him of his monstrous form and end his suffering, which she does at the end of the tournament.

Personality

Genra, despite his overlying loyalty for the Tenjinmon ninja clan, is at his core an honorable person. When he noticed that Ayane was introverted and looked down upon, he felt sorry for her and took her in. This resulted in a father/daughter bond between him and Ayane, a kind of parental relationship Ayane had never felt before. In his Omega form, however, he seems to know little more than death and destruction, going as so far to became a sadist, immune to other's pain.

Trivia

  • Ayane has his mask attached to her belt in Dead or Alive 4. Oddly enough the same costume featuring Genra's mask was featured as her default costume in DOA2U, in which the events of that story took place before Dead or Alive 3.
  • Genra is seen in the motion picture DOA: Dead or Alive albeit, without his mask (however his face is blurred). He is the man at the back of the room who tells Ayane that Kasumi's departure from the Mugen Tenshin clan is an act of betrayal, he then instructs Ayane to kill Kasumi. His actor was uncredited.
